new by me: I write about renee vivien and natalie barney, two of the writers and women I most deeply adore. their art, their tragic love, myth vs reality, and lesbianism in the belle epoque alicemaz.substack.com/p/from-paris...

At first the bluesky was designed as a.. perfect website.. the feeds didn't glitch out.. every post was funny & high effort.. there was no inscrutable drama or 'main character's it was a disaster. which is why the bluesky was redesigned to this.. 2012 twitter.. the peak of your civilization
I saw all three of them today (one picked up my furniture one works at the self-storage place and one at the burger bar I met him at) I am absolutely dadmaxxing
a month ago I was bemoaning having no good older male role models who I could talk to about life and relationships and stuff but somehow I've managed to acquire three different 60-something father figures in seattle
privilege stack includes how early you were to bluesky
i love all of you very much but there's a number of people here who've gotten a pretty big head from Being Here First and it's kind of an active detriment to the community & its perception. i get having more power feels fucking *awesome* but some of yall REALLY gotta settle the hell down
threads might coexist with twitter/bluesky but it will never kill either because it's targeted at normies and all their posts are boring and the mods are pussies
It’s only been two days, but it seems clear to me that Bluesky missed its moment to be the Twitter replacement. It feels like Threads is going to eat Twitter’s lunch, and Bluesky will be a cute niche site. Hope I’m wrong, but feels inevitable already.
new by me: "toward a system of neo-xunism." I summarize the philosophy of xunzi, and explain how I think it can form the basis of a contemporary ruling ideology in line with @meaningness.bsky.social's metarational framework https://alicemaz.substack.com/p/toward-a-system-of-neo-xunism
I actually can't remember if the vibe of the original show was "these people are freaks by normal standards but it's the normies who are vicious or foolish for clinging to social norms" or if that's a contemporary reading written into the newer media
Thinking of this photo of John Aston as Gomez Addams, which I've always interpreted as the look of a person who knows that all our societal norms are complete bullshit and is going to act accordingly.
