I was honored to join Midway and Lowe’s at a Red Vest Day event in celebration of this investment and in recognition of the partnerships dedicated to expanding opportunity and supporting our community in Douglas County. I look forward to seeing this work continue!

Thank you to the Fulton County Emergency Services and Emergency Management for welcoming me on a tour of your departments. Seeing these vital services firsthand reinforces the importance of investing in preparedness and supporting the needs of communities in southern Fulton County.

I recently celebrated Georgia Pre-K Week by joining two reading events at Sheltering Arms Longview Center and Chattahoochee YMCA Head Start Academy. Thank you to the educators and caregivers investing in our youngest learners every day. Georgia’s future starts with them!

The Trump Administration has cut off all funding in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Law that was directly supporting programs to end this violence. America! We have to do more than pray—we need action. Enough is enough. x.com/nbcnews/stat...

Domestic violence affects millions of people across our country, leaving lasting impacts on survivors, families, and communities. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m joining survivors and advocates in calling for action and change. Together, we can build safer communities.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Breast Cancer Awareness Month will always be close to my heart. I’ll continue fighting for more affordable, accessible health care and lifesaving breakthroughs. To every fighter and survivor: you are not alone. I stand with you.

As Hurricane Isaias continues to strengthen and make landfall late today, I want to thank the local meteorologists and public safety officials who are working around the clock to keep our region safe and prepared.

My heart is with Vienna, Georgia. When violence comes to a small town, everyone knows someone who was lost, someone who was hurt, someone who is grieving. I am thinking of every family, friend, and first responder today. These tragedies cannot continue.

Wishing a happy and sweet new year and a meaningful Rosh Hashanah to the Jewish community in Georgia’s 6th District and around the world. May the year ahead be filled with peace, joy, and new beginnings.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause to remember the lives lost and honor the heroes who risked everything to save others. We will never forget their courage, their sacrifice, or the resilience that carried our nation forward.

This Labor Day, we honor the workers who keep our nation moving and make our communities stronger. Today is a reminder to continue fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and the dignity every worker deserves.

I am deeply grateful to The Missing Word for including my story in this powerful book and for giving a name to a grief so many parents carry. This book highlights the stories of ollipsent parents and helps bring awareness to what is means to lose a child.

I lost my son, Jordan, to gun violence. I am honored to have my story included alongside these families who have  bravely shared their experiences. Thank you, The Missing Word, for creating a space where our voice can be heard and where our children’s memories can be remembered.

For generations, people of color fought for the right to walk through doors that used to be closed. The Supreme Court struck down segregation in the classroom. Now the Trump Admin wants to call that fight "discrimination" and use it to roll back the very progress we made.

Congratulations to Congresswoman Analilia Mejia (NJ-11) and Congressman Everton Blair (GA-13) on being sworn in to the Congressional Black Caucus. Georgia and New Jersey are so lucky to have you. Your leadership will strengthen the work of the CBC and the communities you serve.

Today marks 63 years since the first March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. We honor the leaders, organizers, and those who demanded justice and helped pave the way for the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act. Their fight built the foundation we stand on today.

I remember being there with my family, who were active in the civil rights movement and taught me to participate in the fight for justice. Today, as attacks on voting and civil rights grow, it’s more important than ever to stay committed to protecting access and equality for all.

Dolly Parton embodied the spirit of our country and the best in all of us. Her immense philanthropic work, especially for children’s health and education, will continue to shape generations. From the Imagination Library to her quiet acts of giving, her legacy will endure. She will be sorely missed.

I am deeply saddened by the shooting at my alma mater Virginia State University. All students should be able to focus on their education without the threat of gun violence.

I am praying for those students affected by this senseless act. VSU Trojans are strong and mighty. We will get through this together. I remain committed as ever to keeping all Americans safe.

As students across Georgia’s 6th District head back to school, I’m wishing everyone a safe and successful year ahead. Thank you to our dedicated parents, teachers, and school staff who make learning possible every single day. Here’s to a strong start and a wonderful school year!

I am proud to have joined my colleagues across the aisle in introducing the READ Act. This bill strengthens evidence-based Science of Reading instruction to tackle America’s literacy crisis and help every child succeed. Together, we’re improving literacy nationwide.

I am grieving alongside another community terrorized by gun violence. My heart is with the people of Twin Falls, Idaho and I am praying for those who are now dealing with the devastation of losing a loved one. I will continue to fight for a safer America.

Today, we honor the life of our dear friend and civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis. From leading the march across the Edmund Pettus Bridge to serving in the House, he never stopped fighting for justice. May we keep making good trouble and advancing the work he devoted his life to.

Everyone deserves access to quality health care. We cannot address our nation’s care shortage without understanding the social determinants of health that impact outcomes. We must stay committed to expanding access for everyone and not restricting it.

Today, we celebrate 250 years of America’s independence. We honor the courage and hope that has always defined our nation, and we pay tribute to all who are fighting, serving, and sacrificing to keep that promise alive. Wishing you and your family a safe and joyful Independence Day. 🇺🇸

I am grateful that the Supreme Court reaffirmed the independence of our Federal Reserve Board. Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook earned her seat through decades of expertise and leadership.

Our nation's independent regulators need to be shielded from political attacks, and we must remain vigilant against further abuses of power by this administration.

The Supreme Court struck down a state law requiring permission to carry guns in private spaces like stores, restaurants, and hotels. This sets a dangerous standard that threatens public safety. The American people deserve better.

Today in Education & Workforce Committee, I urged my colleagues to support my amendment to H.R. 5505 so no student is punished for actions they didn’t commit. Accountability belongs with those responsible. Families deserve justice, and we shouldn’t undermine a bipartisan bill that saves lives.

I remain committed to advancing legislation that protects our children and prevents the next tragedy before it occurs. We owe it to every family touched by gun violence, and to every family we can still protect, to meet this moment with courage and conviction.

I was proud to join my colleagues in signing on to an amicus brief in defense of mifepristone access. We've seen the life-threatening consequences of the Dobbs decision for families across our country. I'm standing on the side of protecting reproductive freedoms.

This Black Music Month, we honor the artists whose creativity and influence continue to shape our culture. Their music carries our history, uplifts our communities, and inspires future generations.

Families shouldn’t be forced into impossible choices because of underfunded classrooms. We must support our schools and ensure every student, including those with disabilities so they can thrive.

Hate-fueled violence is rising, from the attacks in Buffalo, San Diego, and Jacksonville to tragedies that have touched my own family. That’s why the Southern Poverty Law Center’s work remains vital, and why confronting extremism is still essential. Every community deserves safety.
