The Trump administration is considering placing data centers on 17,600 acres of public land in six states: Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming. Public lands belong to the American people, not to Big Tech monstrosities. Full stop.

There are many reasons to oppose, but I’d also like to point out that with this location, it could very well end up being the first data center to get burned up in a range fire. The area along I-84 goes up in flames every summer.

We should save the planet to save the tilcayo cat. I’ve known about Tigrino for only two days and I already love him. (the feeling is not mutual, he looks very annoyed)

So verrry well written!

The Questionable Authority@questauthority.bsky.social

This really is a remarkably good piece of legal writing. It hits the tone required by the specific client and circumstances, makes the legal points it needs to make, and, simultaneously, is written as a document that will become public. This one goes in the "for potential teaching use" folder.

Light pollution means that many do not see how littered the sky has become. Where I am privileged to live, I can see more than 5 satellites a minute. I cannot bear the thought of seeing 100 times that many and what that will do to wildlife or to our souls.

16,000 satellites currently whiz above our heads; 1.7 million more are proposed. A new preprint looks into a dystopian, runaway space junk threshold called Kessler syndrome—and finds that many popular megaconstellation proposals breach it. 🛰️🚨 For @science.org: www.science.org/content/arti...
