If anyone feels like a match tonight, I sent $100 which helps expand the TJA’s stylebook and coverage guide — an invaluable resource that more newsrooms should take advantage of these days.

Trans Journalists Association@transjournalists.org

We're digging our heels in. 🥾👠 TJA is raising $25,000 by Dec 1 for trans and gender-expansive journalists, because we're in this work for the long haul. And we're just getting started! Give today: bit.ly/DiggingOurHeelsIn

Joan Laporta answered a question about the importance of winning the women's Champions League with an answer about wanting to win the men's Champions League and La Liga...while accepting the award for best women's club.

Update on Decision Day, and not a suprising one: Gotham vs. Utah gets the ESPN slot, all other matches will be be on ESPN+. We're gonna need a lot of screens.

I understand not needing to break fire code but the only bonus numbers that should count are standing room only, etc. and not a watch party on a screen. Absolutely not an attendance record, even if all teams cook those numbers to some extent.

Jason Anderson@jasondcsoccer.bsky.social

I know this isn't the most important story in the world, but apparently the Current are going through with claiming the people watching on a screen next door to CPKC Stadium as being in attendance. I'm not the boss of journos, but I think this is something where media should push back.

3-4 games worth of incidents packed into the first 20 minutes of KC-Spirit, but this injury for Hal Hershfelt is potentially the one with the longest-reaching consequences

The OG rivalry is Seattle KC, in this essay I will revisit the 2014 and 2015 seasons in which NC didn’t even exist yet.

I did not intend to write the most Vermont story ever when I drove down to the Mad River Valley to talk to alpine skier Paula Moltzan, but it’s just how these things work. On a sponsorship deal with a local fertility clinic that’s turned into a personal mission: www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

Rewarding him with a suite and a police escort… “the safety and security of our guests.” Which guests? And your players? You sure?

oh so the team didn't succeed in containing him or preventing from finding a camera, it's almost like him trying to attend was again, in bad faith!!!!!!!!!! who could have guessed!!!!! bsky.app/profile/kent...

Ken Tremendous@kentremendous.bsky.social

Weird. It’s like he didn’t even want to watch the actual game!

It's been all Seattle here, but Simone Charley finally digs something out for the Stars to make it 3-1 late here on the lake. Crowd definitely appreciative of the signs of life (and brings the Stars back to a -50 GD for the season, up from -51). Charley's first goal for Chicago.

The October window is over, and now it's on to World Cup qualifiers for the Concacaf region. The #USWNT will face El Salvador, whose head coach just threatened to drop players and ban coffee breaks after losses against Paraguay. More on his unnecessary crash out ⬇️ www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/...

As an intellectual exercise, @tamerra-griffin.bsky.social and I were tasked with making a squad ladder for the USWNT after the Spain games. 30 players, ranked on form, minutes, history and value. We came in with our own rankings, then hashed it out. Fun! www.nytimes.com/athletic/769...

I very much believe that if you reference Open Cup and FA Cup in your press release about a new tournament that your new tournament should actually resemble those two things and include amateur teams. That's the growth. Not two div. I leagues.

Sam Lattof@samlattof.bsky.social

Shoutout to @meglinehan.com mentioning that if the Arthur Blank Crest Cup wants to call itself the women's soccer Open Cup, there should be amateur teams involved. (Also subscribe to Full Time)

Some v instructive minutes in the second half of this one that we will all have plenty to chew on. Del Fava a bright spot for sure, that long ball is gonna get talked about a lot for the next 24 hours.

They made it to 27 minutes this time? But yeeeesh, USWNT carved apart and it's easy pickings for Alexia Putellas.

every single person that I have seen post about Lonesome Dove over the past 6ish months has been a woman either recommending it or also making it her entire personality

"If more books were published by men with explicitly masculine themes, would there actually be a wider male readership?" This is very much in the Platnerian mode that presumes all men are only attracted to content by, for, and possibly about Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor. jacobin.com/2026/10/lone...

Heaps and Lavelle in the same midfield creates very little rest defense through the middle third and Lily Yohannes certainly is not the player to mitigate that. A common thread through the last year.

Jason Anderson@jasondcsoccer.bsky.social

Rest defense and recovery in transition is important in soccer!
