The other day my professor said every time he leaves the classroom and encounters the wider world, he's terrified by the political opinions people hold, particularly concerning the Middle East. God, is that true.

It will never stop being depressing to me that if you ask the average self-described “pro-Palestine” person who they admire, they'll name a liberal Zionist Jewish politician before they'll ever name a Palestinian resistance fighter.

Do they? What exactly do you think happens to Palestinians when they're arrested? Do you imagine they're politely escorted onto an air-conditioned bus, phones in hand and faces intact? Are they released after a few hours?

Israel knows perfectly well who Brad Lander is. He's a public figure, a self-admitted liberal Zionist who defended investments in Elbit Systems. He was allowed into the country because it's really quite simple: Brad Lander's liberal Zionism poses no meaningful threat to the Israeli occupation.

Israel doesn't even let moderately critical journalists into the country! For fuck's sake! The Committee to Protect Journalists documented at least six foreign journalists denied entry by Israel, including reporters planning to cover the occupied West Bank!

There's a reason films like Beauty and the Beast, Edward Scissorhands, The Shape of Water, Lisa Frankenstein, Your Monster, and now Wicker keep returning to the fantasy of women falling in love with creatures. I don't think the appeal is simply that women 'want monsters,' though.

These stories allow women to imagine intimacy outside the actual power relations between men and women. The creature offers love without the familiar hierarchies and indignities of heterosexual relationships. Monster is desirable precisely because he doesn't behave like the ordinary men around him.

Moving abroad alone is no joke. I recommend renting a boyfriend or holding a man at gunpoint or maybe even falling in love (worst option) so you'll have a helping hand.

UC Berkeley expanding research partnerships with Israeli universities while Israel has systematically destroyed Palestinian universities is absolutely disgraceful.

You know that litmus test where if a guy is rude to a waiter, you should be wary of him? Well, if a guy thinks Palestinians should continue to be subjected to genocide because they might commit genocide themselves someday, you should probably be wary of him too.

So, animal torture. Cool.

I can't get into James Bond because I struggle to believe even one woman would willingly have sex with a British man, let alone 58.

Mamdani had already promised to dismantle the SRG during his campaign. The protesters were demanding that he actually follow through. So the protest was largely about holding Mamdani accountable to commitments he had already made. This... is what protesting is for.

I hate when Persian restaurants call mast-o-khiar “tzatziki.” They swear using the actual Persian name is going to scare the hoes. People can learn what mast-o-khiar is.

I wish it weren’t true. I really wish it weren’t true. But Democrats are geniuses at taking revolutionary momentum and turning it into an opportunity to rehabilitate their own party. Just sucks to have to watch it happen over and over again at my age.

I watch the righteous anger drain out of people as they convince themselves that the new guy who checks all the identity boxes is going to change everything. I watch them lower the bar for what they're willing to accept until they're defending things they would have been furious about a year ago.

Man, you guys. I just saw a clip of Ethan Klein saying his mistress looks like his children, right in front of his wife, and somehow Hila having served in the IDF is still the worst part of this entire situation.

As you watch these protests unfold across Europe, remember that mass discontent alone does not make a revolution. Without an organised working-class movement explicitly committed to overthrowing capitalism, protests may win concessions, but the system that produced those grievances remains intact.

Two Israeli soldiers are killed in the occupied West Bank, and the response is to lock down entire Palestinian cities, raid at least 15 towns, arrest dozens of people and forcibly displace thousands from their homes. The thing is, the West Bank was already experiencing all of this.

I'mma be real with you, dog. The US is fighting a war against Iran, backing a war against Russia, and waging an economic war against China, apparently under the impression that none of these countries can retaliate in ways that hurt the American economy.

China's rare-earth export controls are a perfect example. If the rules take effect on November 10, China could require their approval for certain foreign-made products containing as little as 0.1% Chinese-origin rare-earth inputs by value. We're talking about supply chains for critical technologies.

Washington has spent decades weaponizing other countries' economic dependencies. Now it's discovering that dependence works both ways. 😀👍
