Streamed Supergirl last night. I had seen it in the theater and enjoyed it, but watching it again I was able to really appreciate what is driving Kara, the calls from Clark now make so much more sense. He knew she was spiraling, engaging in inappropriate grieving,

so he's reaching out, trying to get her to come home because he's worried about her. And Ruthye becomes a mirror for her. So, bottom line. It was even more enjoyable on this second watch.

For anybody who might be attending LACon V I will be doing a table talk at 10:30 Sunday morning. I got added because I really do enjoy chatting with folks and being as helpful as I can to other writers and aspiring writers. So if you are up by then do stop by and join me.

Went and saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day this afternoon & I loved it. Some of the swing work made me feel like I was actually soaring through the streets of NYC. I laughed, got a teary eyed. It made me so happy to see Florence Pugh as Yelena. I love her, and even in a tiny cameo she just shone.

open.substack.comProtect Chaco CanyonTonight I’m writing to ask any followers/readers to please help us save Chaco Canyon from Trump’s seeming need to destroy anything of beauty.

God help me, I have a substack now, and here is my latest article. If folks could subscribe and also go and try to protect Chaco Canyon I would be so very grateful. open.substack.com/pub/melindam...

Watching the live stream, and it seems like they are stalling. Has Trump tried to go to the Supremes? Aside from the fact it was a travesty that he put his name on the building in the first place, he had the gall to put his name above President Kennedy's.

12 June

I've got the live stream up to so I can watch the fascist orange blob's name come off the Kennedy Center. Plan to cheer loudly.

The vet cleared my horse Odyssey to go back to full work. We just need to take it slow about building him up to the upper levels in dressage. But as I was leading him over to the trailer to go home he stepped on the edge of my shoe and tripped me.

I went ass over tea kettle and landed on this old scar on my right hand from my childhood. Thank heavens my coach had ice packs in her cooler so by the time we got home the hematoma was much reduced, but I am sore.

Worked with a friend breaking the plot of his movie script. He has a really great theme and how it ties into what is happening in our world. We got a big hunk of it done, and it's coming together really nicely. I love doing this, but it is mentally exhausting.

New Mexico has the best clouds.

31 May

Such a lovely full moon last night. Sat on the patio and just listened to the quiet.

It's Memorial Day when we honor the fallen. My dad was too young for WWI and too old for WWII, but his younger brother served in WWII and miraculously made it home alive after landing at Normandy and being trapped in the Battle of the Bulge.

I've had friends who served in Vietnam, and often some of them would tell funny stories, but you could see the pain deep in their eyes because the memory of friends and comrades they had lost was always there. Today shouldn't just be about mattress sales.

Okay, I stipulate that I am old. I saw the first Star Wars movie on opening day (at midnight because they had so many people they had to add extra showings) with my friend Vic Milan. My beloved father was dying & I was studying to take the bar exam.

Star Wars was the only thing that kept me sane during those long weeks. I saw it 7 times in the theater. Then came Empire that inspired me to quit the law firm and become a writer. So yes, I am forever grateful to Star Wars.

13 May

Started watching Empire Strikes Back while I prepared dinner tonight, and of course couldn't stop watching. I love the movie so much. It gave me the push to quit the law firm and commit to being a writer.

I am gutted. Today the Roberts court spit on the sacrifice of thousands of Black people who endured beatings, arrest, and death to finally access the rights supposedly guaranteed to them by the Constitution. Democracy has only existed in this country for 61 years.

View full thread

We studied the vile decisions of the Taney court (Dred Scott) & the Fuller court (Separate by Equal). My professors excoriated the men who led those courts. During Roberts tenure constitutional rights were curtailed for minorities & women & I fear the LGBTQ+ community are next.

I won't be around, but I predict that 50 years from now law students will study the decisions of the Roberts court & he will join the ranks of his despised predecessors.

It took the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 to begin to undo the stain of slavery and racism. And despite what Roberts & his corrupt cohort might claim -- racism still grips this nation. I focused on Constitutional Law in law school.

Bet Jim Comey really, really wishes he hadn't given that press conference 11 days before the 2016 election. if he hadn't help put Trump in office this wouldn't be happening to him.

That being said, this current indictment is just laughable & absurd & it will be thrown out of court, but it will cost the former FBI director a lot of money.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

“Oh, do you think he was referring to you?” Intentional or unintentional this was pretty savage

My Loki is so smart. Had the Meezers outside while I emptied flower pots for spring flowers & of course they ate grass which guarantees they will puke. We get in the house, Loki lets out that Siamese wail that means "I'm going to barf.!"

He then runs to the Litter Robot, jumps in & pukes which he then carefully covers with litter. I tried for a photo, but he was too quick. Anyway, here is Loki. (I think he's sticking out his tongue for even thinking about taking his pic while in the box.

I despise Trump with every fiber of my being, but I've lived through too many political assassinations, and I never want to see another. I want Trump removed from office by Constitutional means, tried in a court of law for his many crimes and sentenced by the rule of law.

Trump wants the Correspondents Dinner to be rescheduled because he's angry he didn't get to make his speech demeaning, insulting and belittling the press. A free press, like the rule of law, is essential for a stable democracy. Trump wants to destroy both.

My baby horse was the N.M. first level dressage champion and now the third level dressage champion. Let's see what this year brings when he goes fourth level and Prix St. George.

Grimly amused how all the people who didn't bother to vote, or voted 3rd party, or voted for Trump because they just couldn't cope with the idea of a woman president are now screaming at the Democratic senators & representatives to Do Something! . Without facing the ugly truth --

7 Apr

They made it impossible for the Democrats to Do Something because they turned every level of power over to the Republicans and Trump.

I managed to iron all the napkins and placemats and a tablecloth from Thanksgiving. I usually keep putting it off until it's suddenly November and I have to iron them for the next Thanksgiving dinner. Please clap.

Since my gaming group didn't play last night, I took myself out to see Project Hail Mary. It was so good. And such an interesting structure for the script. Worked really well.

It was a struggle to get this photo because Vento kept wiggling, and trying to eat grass, and spin around because just standing was _So Boring_! wish I had been riding Odyssey because he just stands after you halt and just chills, but Vento has no idea what chill means.

Went to my local gas station this morning. Only two pumps had petrol and only one had diesel. All the others were shut down. The station is out of fuel. Anybody remember the gas lines of the 1970s? Trump and the regime are such morons.

11 Mar

Took Odyssey out for a long trail ride today. We went with a friend whose mare can be crabby, but she really liked Odds Bods, even when he tried to nibble on her tail. Abby was able to show me the nesting owls. The nest looks like a woven basket with really thick twigs. And here's a picture.

11 Mar

(I'll try to get the nest next time).
