I’m incredibly honored to have been sworn in yesterday to represent Texas’s 18th congressional district, and to have my wife Kaitlyn by my side. I stand on the incredible legacy built by this district, and today I’m ready to get to work.

Republicans and Democrats across Texas agree that a border wall in Big Bend is a terrible idea. It would waste taxpayer dollars, destroy fragile ecosystems, threaten wildlife, and increase the risk of dangerous flash flooding that puts communities at risk. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Trump’s war in Iran is driving up prices at the gas pump, and hardworking families are feeling it. Months into this war, Americans are still waiting for a clear plan to bring it to an end. Democrats have repeatedly voted to stop the fighting, but Republicans have refused to support those efforts.

Had a GREAT time visiting Coolxdad at E.W. Cullen Middle School! Through their CoolxKids Community Enrichment Hub, they’re empowering fathers, supporting our young people, and building stronger Houston families.

These numbers are heartbreaking, and we have work to do. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m proud to support legislation that strengthens protections for survivors, expands access to emergency shelters, and invests in preventing abuse before it happens.

Prices keep rising, families are struggling, and Trump and Republicans act like everything is fine. They promised lower costs. Americans are fed up and don't deserve this nonsense.

🚨 BREAKING: Inflation comes in HOT. September inflation surged to 3.7% year over year, with core inflation also exceeding forecasts. Prices jumped 0.6% in just ONE MONTH. Meanwhile, real earnings fell 0.5% in September.

A vile abuse of power. Trump has attacked @repilhan.bsky.social for years. Now he’s using the federal government against a sitting member of Congress three weeks before an election.

No president should weaponize the government against political enemies. This president has done so time and again, and the Republicans who control Congress just sit back and let it happen. I stand with Ilhan.

We honored Walter Moses Burton, Fort Bend County’s first Black sheriff and tax collector, who also served in the Texas Senate. His legacy reminds us why representation matters at every level of government. We must honor those who paved the way and keep opening doors for future generations.

Happy birthday, Ms. Opal Lee! 🎉 Juneteenth was born right here in Texas, in Galveston, on June 19, 1865. Ms. Opal spent decades making sure the rest of America knew the story of freedom that began in our state. Today, we celebrate the Grandmother of Juneteenth. www.dmagazine.com/publications...

For years, this community has asked for a place where students could sing, dance, act, play, and create, a stage where their creativity can thrive. Congratulations to Aldine ISD on breaking ground on the Aldine ISD Education & Performing Arts Center (EdPAC)!

It was an honor to sit down in Houston with Lonnie Ali, a dedicated philanthropist and the widow of the late Muhammad Ali. Muhammad Ali left his mark on our city, from his historic fights at the Astrodome to his stand against the Vietnam War.

We talked about the Muhammad Ali Index, which measures compassion in cities across the world. And Lonnie's work to carry Muhammad's legacy forward by bringing people together and encouraging us to care for our neighbors. Grateful to Lonnie for the conversation and for continuing the Champ's legacy.

A public servant who knew exactly which levers of power to pull to get stuff done for his community, and he did so every time the doors of the Capitol opened. A leader who fought so that every Texan could have a roof over their head, good health care, and a quality education.

Fox News asked me about those $5,000 checks Trump has promised, so I gave them the truth: You’re not getting them. Trump can keep making promises he can’t deliver. I’m going to keep telling folks the truth.

Just months after Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was murdered by an ICE agent right here in Houston, we’re hearing reports of another ICE shooting in Austin. That’s unacceptable. ICE has shown us time and again that we cannot simply take their word for what happened. They have no credibility.

Republicans canceled votes AGAIN. For everyone else in this country, when you have a job to do, you’re expected to show up and get it done. Congress should be no different. The American people sent us here to work. Republicans keep canceling votes instead. It’s pathetic.

President Obama wore a tan suit, and Republicans acted like the sky was falling. Now, Trump and his family are making billions from shady business deals while he sits in the White House, and Republicans in Congress suddenly have nothing to say.
