The Tarrant County Commissioners Court on 8/4 is still on-going, but I was able to catch a few minutes of a resolution put forth by Commissioner Matt Krause. It was a poison pill. I wrote about it and walk through the why. Give it a read. open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Read it, comment on it, share it. I see Tarrant County as primed to flip, but only if we are all doing the work. Bannon told us: As goes Tarrant goes Texas goes the US. #wakeup #tarrantcounty #seeitnameitfightit open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Yesterday was a dive into the statewide races based on the Semi-July campaign finance reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission. Today, a focus on Tarrant County, with a look a TX Senate and House races (reports from the TEC) and County races (reports from the County). 🔗⬇️

Had to close out the numbers from the Tarrant County Primary Runoffs, and there are a few insights you should probably check out. Click the link to dig in. November here we come! open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Here is the link to read the piece @mentack.bsky.social and I wrote. We should engage diverse, urban and suburban, and young, giving those who share our values a reason to show up to vote, not just something to vote against. Read it. Share it. Work it. open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Our friend and 18 year FWISD teacher Alé Checka got in her car Monday (5/11/26) and drove to Austin to give comments to the Texas House Education Committee on the State of Education in Texas and specifically about the takeover (and just before the takeover) of Fort Worth ISD.

I don’t think Chairman Buckley understood he was asking questions of the indomitable Alé Checka, as she zipped around him at every point he was trying to make. This is Part 3 of our friend and 18 year FWISD teacher Alé Checka giving comments to the Texas House Education Committee on 5/11/26.

This is Part 2 of our friend and 18 year FWISD teacher Alé Checka giving comments to the Texas House Education Committee on Monday (5/11/26) on the State of Education in Texas. I Am So Glad You Asked captures some of the follow-up questions House members had to her testimony.

This is the Canary. If you are in Tarrant County, you are on the frontline. Get involved. If you are in a safe blue space, consider supporting the candidates and orgs in Tarrant. This is the moment. open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Six months to the November election. Two months from the March Primaries. I wrote pieces after the Primary talking about the historical connection between the two. Let’s make it real & dive into where real races could land based on those ratios. This is the Canary open.substack.com/pub/christac...

I was on the 817 pod to talk about what we saw happen in the Texas and Tarrant County primaries. This clip is focused on the hope we’ve gained based on what we all saw and where it could lead us. Vibes matter. They are what cut through a lot of clutter. Watch it and let me know how you are feeling!

They let me back on the 817 Podcast! You should check it out 😏 youtu.be/nzcYBwlMSDQ?...

Some will tell you primaries don’t matter, what we see in March doesn’t translate into November. They are wrong. March sends a strong signal for what is to come. And 2026 has sent one heck of a signal. I wrote about it. Please read it and share it. Click the link. open.substack.com/pub/christac...

When I sat down last week with our next Governor, Rep Gina Hinojosa, the question of who voted in the TXSD9 Runoff came up. Was it Republicans who drove the win? I walked through it (so this clip is almost all me), talking about strategic primary voters and running on values. Hint: It was Democrats

“Tackett and his wife Mendi, the organisation’s (See It Name It Fight It) sole members, now live in Fort Worth, where they’re part of a scrappy community of progressives and anti-extremist organizers who are building momentum amid their town’s deeply embedded Christian nationalism.” Heck yeah!

On 2/10/26, Tim, Matt, and Manny voted to slash opportunities for Tarrant County public comments, after reducing meetings to one a month. Mendi Tackett called the root of it what it is—white Christian nationalism. Voters are watching We are organizing We are coming for your seats ✊👏

Did you miss The Librarians at one of the local showings over the past few months? GREAT NEWS! It’s going to be on PBS on 2/9!!! You can watch it on your local PBS station on 2/9, OR stream it on the PBS Passport app (on your smart TV) or via the PBS YouTube channel through the end of February

@katherinestewart.bsky.social wrote a piece on Substack today, “The American Conservative Movement Has Failed”. It’s a really insightful piece (as is pretty much all of her work), but the line in the image hits the 🎯 beautifully. You can read her substack at writekaths.substack.com

Mayor Jacob Frey: "They are already trying to spin this as an action of self defense. Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is bullshit."

Every single time I hear a politician celebrating “rugged individualism”, it makes my eyes roll 🙄 so hard in my head I almost fall over. I wrote about the myth this morning. Give it a read and let me know what you think! open.substack.com/pub/christac...

Yes. 1000 times yes.

If there was any question why so many in Tarrant County can’t wait to vote for a new County Judge in 2026, Tim O’Hare reminded everyone with his performance at the 12/9/25 Commissioners Court. Tim O’Hare has got to go. (And Manny too!) #seeitnameitfightit #wakeup #tarrantcounty

I've only seen the wide version of Nydia Cardenas’ launch video shared, but I think the vertical version is great too, showing off a "tight focus on what matters for Tarrant County, its people. Give it a watch and let me know what you think! #tarrantcounty #vote4nydia #tarrantcountyprecinct4

Nydia Cárdenas is running for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 4. To say I’m excited about her candidacy is an understatement. Here is her launch video! youtu.be/rH30LN9iPYw?...

Think about the potential of a 20% or more sales tax on everything you buy. Even your groceries which are exempt from sales tax today. Does that feel “affordable”? Greg Abbott and other R’s are advocating that we should eliminate property taxes. It sounds cool, but they are picking your pocket.

I can remember the phone calls I had with Glenn Rogers back in 2019 and 2020, laying out what the motivation was for Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks. We walked through Christian nationalism and 7 Mountains / Dominionism. Rogers knew all of this before going to Austin as a member of the Texas House.

If you’re tempted to turn MTG into a hero over her falling out with Trump, please check yourself. She may be at odds with him on the heinous Epstein debacle, but she’s still MTG with the same hateful values she’s always had. Please don’t rationalize levels of Republican awful.

Imagine having a Tarrant County Commissioner in Precinct 4 who can break down big ideas into manageable pieces and can then focus on problem solving and solutions for regular every day people. Enter Nydia Cardenas. This is from the 8/4/25 episode of the 817 Podcast #wakeup #tarrantcounty

People across Tarrant County need to get to know Nydia Cardenas. This is her Fort Worth Story from the 817 Pod on 8/4/2025. @mentack.bsky.social and I are so excited she intends to run for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 4!

Last week I put up a graphic I had created, an Authoritarian Venn. The image is pretty simple, but there was a lot in my head as put it together, and I’ve written something to share how it all ties together. You can read it at open.substack.com/pub/christac...

The stakes couldn’t be higher. And Texas (and even more so Tarrant County) is the center of it all. @ginafortexas.bsky.social laid it out on the 817 Pod. We have to find our voices, our community, and get out there to connect with those who have felt their voice didn’t matter.
