Donations to the farm can take form in many ways. We want to give a big thank you to some groups for some this weekend! @switchel_bluegrass raised funds for the farm, and on Sunday we welcomed the St. Michael's tennis team to help out with some building and maintenance projects. We are SO THRILLED that New York City has passed the Romanch's Law banning horse-drawn carriage rides! These horses were living in deplorable conditions and made to work hours upon hours a day, and had very little vet care. We are so excited to finally see them be free!

With all the talk about Louie last week, for Throwback Thursday we are looking at his and Huey's intake back in 2023. Huey and Louie were saved from a 26 pig hoarding case and living in deplorable conditions. Working alongside @barnsanctuary, we were able to give them a loving home.

Wishlist Wednesday items from last week have started coming in and we can't thank YOU enough! A lot of times orders are delivered without names so we aren't exactly sure who sends what, so we want you all to know how much we appreciate your contributions and that they make all the difference!

We welcomed Vermont Commons School last week to do their Encounter week. Students learned about Animal Welfare and Humane Education while helping The Merrymac Farm Sanctuary care for their residents on a daily basis. They had a great week learning and celebrating the animals.

I often find that when I observe the flock it brings about an involuntary pause. To revel in their quiet joy, I take a moment to stop my work and admire them. Sheep have a way of reminding us to be where our feet are.

Say hello to Merrymac’s newest residents. This group of 8 chickens are Kaporos survivors who were found abandoned in the back of a truck in Brooklyn. They‘ve had a rough beginning to their lives & have been settling in to sanctuary life well.
