📌 Save the date: Metascience 2027 is heading to Montreal, June 14–16, 2027! The Tanenbaum Open Science Institute (@theneuro.bsky.social) and @cos.io are bringing the global metascience community together in one of the world's top research cities. Updates: metascience.info #Metascience2027

A first look at the #Metascience2027 Conference themes 👀 📌 “Research Reform in an Era of Rapid Change: What Works, For Whom, and How?” The question is no longer whether change is needed, but what actually works. 🧵👇

🔹 7/7: Research Methods, Measurement, and Standards Evaluating and advancing the #methods, #metrics, #data, and #standards used to study research systems and research reform.

💭 Which themes are you most excited about? P.S. Call for Abstracts opens soon at metascience.info. Follow for updates! #Metascience2027 @cos.io @theneuro.bsky.social

🔹 5/7: Research Assessment and Institutional Reforms Developing, implementing, and evaluating #reforms to peer-review and research assessment.

🔹 6/7: Capacity Building Developing the skills, infrastructure, organizational structures, and data needed to strengthen #metascience at scale.

🔹 3/7: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Research Ecosystem Examining progress, setbacks, and unintended consequences in efforts to build a #diverse and #equitable research ecosystem.

🔹 4/7: Indigenous and Traditional Knowledge Systems Assessing the evolving interactions between traditional and modern #KnowledgeSystems, policy, and the challenges and opportunities in data sovereignty.

🔹 1/7: Assessing Open Science Taking stock of the impact of #OpenScience reforms: which benefits have materialized, and where have challenges or unintended consequences arisen?

🔹 2/7: Evaluating A.I. Use in Research Assessing the promises, pitfalls, and real-world impacts of generative #AI in research.

Metascience 2027 will examine whether reforms and interventions are achieving their intended outcomes, and whether we can measure and evaluate those outcomes well enough. Here are the seven sub-themes 👇
