Recovered lawyer, mom to kids and dog, super power is that I’m disappointed in you.

Took my compression socks off. Hooo, boy. Those are some Amazing bruises. I’m finally sleeping and eating normally which is huge. And showering. Until those things are disrupted you really take them for granted.

Day two: starting my regime of: motion machine, at home PT, and ice machine/compression. Rinse and repeat the full cycle three times. And the meanie at home taking care of me insists that I use my cane since I refuse to the walker. I’m like the knights in MPs Holy Grail:

Fuck climate change. As a woman experiencing certain life changes, I should be able to cool off outside in the back half of October. Not today. 🥵

Going to vote bright and early tomorrow before I’m on opioid painkillers. I use yard signs to help determine who not to vote for in local elections. If Demuth and Tafoya supporters like you, you get the side eye from me, generally. Suburban elections can be a little weird.

In completely non-shocking news, the twerpy white dude who questioned El-Sayed’s allegiance to the Constitution and religious freedom (an allegiance twerp DOES NOT have), is a conservative operative who used to work for Josh “run away like a cartoon character” Hawley.

Went to Joint Camp yesterday and got my bag o’ drugs today. T-13 days for the OG knee. I got five pages of exercises to do at home after surgery. That seems unfair. I want to be lazy and pampered and carted around like a certain Senator.

Absolutely annihilated the roof of my mouth with crusty crust of bread. So, I’m disinfecting it like a European. Wine. All the wine because it hurts.

Got my flu shot and Covid booster like a responsible adult yesterday. Today, I’m laying in bed watching YouTube and playing Art of Fauna like a little kid who feels poopy from getting their shots.

Walking to the train at the Fort Snelling (Whipple) park and ride this morning, there were three older folks getting their signs ready to protest. They were laughing and joking with each while going to fight fascism and hate. That’s the kind of retirement I want.

Finished the baseball game (and travel) scarf before the first frost! Starting on coordinating mittens for the large handed kiddo. Seriously, even the OB comments on the length of that kid’s fingers at birth.

The child is home for the weekend. 😊I’m making curry and pasta and food for campus. And apparently buying snacks for the dorm 💸 The dog is just sleeping on their leg.

The kiddo and I are feeling very smug about our long standing hatred of Ed Sheeran. I believe I called his music “whiny white boy music”. Taking no side means you align with the oppressors.

I have #TomBihn Cafe Bag that’s older than one of my children and has been all over with me. It’s been back to Seattle for a repair before and will be heading back there soon. Tremendous customer service and quality. It is why I have a collection of their products.

The bees that have been using the basil plants that bolted and the lavender for nectar apparently have a home in the weeds next to the tomato plants. Which I violently invaded today in a quest to get rid of the creeping charlie. The bees won. Or wasps. Not sure which. Ouchy.

The baseball game scarf is 75 or stitches away from being fully bound off. Then it’s doing the fringe! Terrible game for the Saints. Beers were great. Modist Brewery is so good as is Pyres. The less said about the hot dog the better. One full week of empty nesting. Going ok!

Bought myself a cold can of fizzy water for the drive home from Trader Joe’s. Left it in the cart in the cart corral. Hopefully, someone enjoys it! Still thirsty tho.

Youngest kiddo is safely ensconced at freshmen orientation. We are safety ensconced in the line to exit the parking lot. We will still be here in four years for graduation. Just circling back around.

Making the kiddo a key lime pie and their “favorite” meal because they are leaving home for college. I should be flattered they are sad versus having a countdown calendar like I did. I just want them to have the most transformative four years. If I hadn’t, they wouldn’t exist.

The Verizon AI chatbot offered its condolences on my mom’s death and promptly put me on hold. I hung ip after 15 mins. Something tells me she was not very sincere.

The family is on the bus to the fair. Again. My job is to wait in the crop art line. Their job is to wait in the apple fries line. We regroup at the scarecrows then it’s off to the international bazaar. It’s like the weirdest DnD quest.

The overlaps between the #MNStateFair and RAGBRAI are many: Waiting in line Up early Strange foods at all hours Beer Crowds Talking to strangers Exercise Humidity/rain/heat Unbelievable community

I’m on vacation!!!!!!! I haven’t really had time off since March. Tomorrow and Sunday are #MNStateFair. I think it is going to be like a collective primal scream but Minnesotan.

I’m on the train to work. This older couple met on the train; she got on first and few stops later he got on. They got off and transferred to a bus to the state fair. I overheard them say “how easy this was”. Public transportation is for everyone!
