Michael J. Scully

Reposting some of my art here since I shut down my Twitter! I’ve had a few comics published, spinning out of @gailsimone.bsky.social’s #comicsschool back in 2020. Would love to reconnect with anybody else who migrated here!

The sun rises over a New England graveyard, light bursts through the trees, and mist rises like the spirits of those who lie beneath the ground. Gold begins to color the blues and purples and melt the frost adorning the stones.

Going to see the rerelease of #AmericanPsycho in theaters and I am glad I brought my raincoat, because after this I have to return some video tapes.

Gotta say it was a real flashback to 2010-2011 when I was an intern at Cartoon Network. Some of these leaks are a little familiar from what I have heard.

This is why I drew extra hard today.

I’m at Atomic Coffee in Beverly and “Would?” by Alice In Chains came on the overheads. Hope they’re ready for me belting it. It’s reflex.

I was lucky enough to have my main Gundam buddy @michaeljscully.bsky.social visiting a few weeks ago! We hit the Gundam Base Chicago.

An in-progress study in vibe and lighting—a guy rappels into a secure area in a not-too-distant future. And he has sunglasses at night, because he’s just that cool. Drawn in #ProCreate. #drawing #comics #art

Doing some important work at the Haverhill Public Library. Reading is one of the foundational elements of good citizenship, old chum! #nananananananana #batman

I’m celebrating the holiday with an—excuse me—damn fine cup of coffee. Give yourself a present. Don’t plan it, don’t wait for it, just let it happen. Stay weird.

Reposting just because I like this piece! #Beast from #xmen, specifically Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s stellar New X-Men run.

SDCC changes art show policy, bans AI-created material: Comic-Con has made it clear that AI art is banned from their annual art show after an outcry on social media called out their policy

Natural talent is nothing compared to the ability to keep making shit long after everyone else has given up

Whaaaaat?? Somehow I got Wordle in two guesses! Wordle 1,648 2/6 ⬛🟩⬛🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Not getting it, but this #HelloKitty guitar kicks ass. 🤘🤘 #guitar

That moment when you’re listening to a mix of a song you made, and you realize you’re tapping your toes and just enjoying the vibe.

Inking warmup to get back into the swing of my cyberpunk comic! Apologies and credit for the pencils to Frank Quitely! #comics #art #comicart #dccomics #robin #batman #cyberpunk

You ever notice that you can swap the lyrics of “Holy Wars” by Megadeth with those of “Dead Man’s Party” by Oingo Boingo and the cadence still works?

Not only can this dog drive, he can also order Wendy’s! So talented.

The new comic shop I wanted to try in Ayer was closed, buuuut they had this sweet outdoor piano. I couldn’t leave without playing a little #Prince and #Metallica.

Brave being out in this climate. Good for you, door.

Post an old #illustration you still like. I want to say 2021 or 2022? I still just love how the details came together on this one. This is the RX-79[G] #Gundam Ground Type from the #anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.” Drawn in #Procreate. #art #comicart

I bought this Ibanez RG350DX back in January. It’s about 25 years old, and needed a couple quality of life improvements. So I got an ostentatious gold pickguard and some new super loud pickups, so it should really rip when I’m done with it. #guitar #ibanez #ibanezguitars #ibanezrg #rg350

Backgrounds are the hardest part of drawing comics for me, but I do love how it’s coming together! #comic #comicbooks #comicbookart #cyberpunk #cyberpunkart #clipstudiopaint

Happy Twin Peaks Day to all who celebrate. Have a damn good cup of coffee and a piece of cherry pie that’ll kill ya.

I had some free time and a few extra brain cells this afternoon, so I recorded a demo of a metal version of the Power Rangers Zeo theme song. Living the dream.

Without downloading any new pics, where are you mentally?

I’ve been trying over the last few weeks to befriend the crows in my neighborhood, and this morning they saw me coming outside and flew down to say hi! Little weirdos. 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

Made a pork udon stir fry tonight! It’s not even Stir Fryday.

Job interview fit check. Fingers crossed!

Periodical reminder:

A million times, this.

HUMAN ARTISTS, use only one piece to convince people to follow you #artshare

Referring to LGBT+ people as "mentally ill" or "abnormal" is not "a discussion." It's not "an opinion." It's not "free speech." It's not "debate." It's hatemongering, with the clear and obvious intent to mark a minority out for subjugation, torture and violence.

Because I’m extra, I designed my own templates for my #2025 #bulletjournal, and printed them out on sticker paper so it can be as precise as I want it to be. Also, I couldn’t find any with #Futura, which is the best font. #bujo

Found all of my old sketchbooks today! I drew this back in 2005, in an architecture class in college. Actually used some of these techniques today drawing backgrounds in my comic.

Happy Black Metal Friday to all those who celebrate!

Those QUADS tho

I was doing a Bondsgiving movie watch, and while watching “You Only Live Twice,” I actually understood the Japanese parts! I love learning 😀

Reposting this for myself, and anyone else who needs to hear it.
