Hello friends!! Previously, our monthly round ups and progress reports were scattered over multiple platforms which required different word counts and formatting. This became silly. This year I'm going to keep all these long reports hosted on my website.

This one includes info on the Aberanth plushie release and more! 🔗 can be found in my bio! #authorupdates #michaelrmiller #songsofchaos #indieauthor #fantasyauthor

As I passed my 10 year anniversary recently, I've been trying to pull all my stats and get a look at the BIG picture. An obvious one was the number of words published

9 Dec 2025

I was surprised to find that with the release of Reckoning I've now published 1,500,000 words 😮 That's all for now 😂 Imma share some more behind-the-scenes stuff as I pull everything together. It's been too long since I did one of those indie author transparency posts.

There are just 2 days left to grab the Songs of Chaos Phoenix Editions. Probably the coolest piece of SoC artwork on that Unbound cover 😍 A big THANK YOU to everyone who picks up a set of the Phoenix Editions. I'm dying to get my own copies for my shelf. Find the link in bio #booksky

What reviewers are saying! One month on, let's check in and see how Reckoning is doing! #songsofchaos #fantasyauthor #dragonfantasy #reviews #booksky

Current read: The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman Book 1 was much better than the Netflix film. Moving onto book 2 now. I'm enjoying these A LOT but they aren't for folks who don't like POV changes 🤣😅 You've been warned if so! What are we all reading or listening to this week? #booksky

🐦‍🔥 🔥 Annnnd here is the Phoenix General Sale 🐦‍🔥 🔥 I think the dust jacket art for Unbound wins as the coolest Holt & Ash artwork yet? It's extremely vibey for sure - kinda wish the regular cover had a pose like that. The sprayed edge on Unbound is also sick - great to see Brode's sword getting a nod.

October 10th. Mark your calendars for the third annual Day of the Dragon! #dayofthedragon #fantasyauthors #booksky #dragonfantasy

A classic, if I fits then I sits Ash photo. I really don't know what runs through his mind. Is that comfortable there? Anyway, I am reading the Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman and really enjoying it. Superbly strong and confident character and narrative voice What are you reading this week?

With Reckoning out this week, what else could this month's giveaway be other than a stack of Songs of Chaos hardbacks. These are normal ones, but they're posher than usual (thanks to some help from The Broken Binding) higher quality paper - hence why they look extra CHONKY!

I'm really proud of Reckoning. Nothing is ever perfect, but don't think I could have given it anymore. They say 'write the book you want to read'. Reckoning is that book One winner will get this set signed and dedicated. Open internationally! To enter: go to my IG account and follow steps there!

It's actually finally here. 2 years of work. Reckoning is OUT. And I believe now safely live worldwide. There is a story recap inside the book in all formats. Those looking to grab a regular HB, I've flicked the feeds to go live but it will take a few days for the stores to catch up. Keep an eye out

A huge huge HUGE thank you to everyone who pre-ordered the book, who is diving in today, who has supported me and the series over the last five years. Ascendant had some humble beginnings but it and Holt and Ash have come a LONG way.

All of that is because of you guys and the staggering enthusiasm you show for the books. It still catches me off guard. Thanks for being on this adventure with me. One more book to go.... "Be free to make mistakes, and don't be afraid to fail."

Another tremendous thank you to Peter Kenny for his stellar narration. Peter always takes the books to another level!! As for Reckoning - what's left to say right now other than I hope you love it. I think it's the best of SoC so far.

When you finish, please consider reviewing the book as that really does help it out and makes a difference. I'm beyond excited to hear what you think of it. Fingers crossed you love it as much as I did once I wrestled it into submission!!

Anyone that would still like to grab a signed copy or signed hardback bundle can still do so from @thebrokenbinding.bsky.social and I'd like to thank them for being extra helpful with the launch of Reckoning and going the extra mile for me on helping to secure a better first print run.

Tomorrow's the day! Who's ready to see what adventures our friends Holt and Ash have to face?

13 Sept 2025

Just two more sleeps!! (and perhaps only one sleep for those super keen beans who might wait until midnight to start on the ebook/audiobook!)

12 Sept 2025
