Gribouille v0.1.0: a Grammar of gGraphics for Typst. Modelled on ggplot2, drawn on cetz. Declare plots with aes, geom-*, facet-wrap and themes; compose hoists a shared legend. One toolchain, data straight to PDF. mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-0... #typst #rstats #grammarOfGraphics #ggplot2 #cetz

👇 Keisen wouldn't be there in that shape without all the extensive and amazing work from @richmeister.bsky.social on 'gt' (R) and 'great_tables' (Python). These two libraries were quite a game changer in how I was drawing tables (statistics mostly) in my day to day work.

Quarto Wizard has a new landing page. It shows how you find, install and update Quarto extensions, and start from a template, without leaving VS Code or Positron. m.canouil.dev/quarto-wizard/ #Quarto #OpenSource #QuartoPub

Great Tables v1.1.0 is out, three weeks after v1.0.0. The two releases add fraction and chemical formula formatters, value-based styling, multi-column stubs, decimal alignment, diverging and row-wise data_color(), and so much more. Here's a post: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-10... Check it out!

Two TidyTuesday figures in Typst. On the open map, Lille looks like it has seven times the pharmacies of Paris. It doesn't. It was just mapped more fully. And two fatty acids are enough to spot a fake avocado oil. m.canouil.dev/tidytuesday/ #Typst #DataViz #TidyTuesday

Highlight Text colours text and backgrounds in every Quarto format. Version 2.4.0 adds named styles, so '[Overdue]{.alert}' carries colours you define once. Change the red in one place and every element follows. m.canouil.dev/quarto-highlight-text #Quarto #OpenSource #QuartoPub

This week's #TidyTuesday, drawn in Typst, looks at green space in cities. I coloured them the way a satellite sees them (ish), sand where green was lost and green where it grew. m.canouil.dev/tidytuesday/tidytuesday/2026/09/22/ #Typst #DataViz

Last week's #TidyTuesday was the Dead Sea Scrolls. The scribes had two inks, so scripture is in iron-gall ink and everything else is in red ochre. I set the title in Frank Ruhl Libre, a font drawn for Hebrew and Latin together. m.canouil.dev/tidytuesday/tidytuesday/2026/09/15/ #Typst #DataViz

So much easier to draft and tweak Typst figure (using Gribouille) for TidyTuesday, when working in a Quarto document. #Typst #Quarto #grammarOfGraphics #TidyTuesday

Quarto Wizard 3.3 compiles the Typst block under your cursor and shows the image beside the editor. Edit Typst blocks in a Quarto document without a full render to see it. mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-09-07-quarto-wizard-3-3/ #Quarto #QuartoPub #Typst #VSCode #PositronIDE

It has been released. (Announcement will come on Monday) You write raw Typst as code block, raw code block, or code cell (Typst Render Quarto extension)? Now, you can do so without leaving your Quarto document in VSCode and Positron via Quarto Wizard. #Typst #Quarto #QuartoPub #Positron #VSCode

Are you working with #Quarto and #Typst? I do and a lot, especially with my typst-render Quarto extension (m.canouil.dev/quarto-typst...). But it has one big pain point, you get no preview, so you either work with an external file or copy/paste between qmd and typ files. This is going to end soon!

Gribouille 0.7.0: 'theme-brand()' turns a parsed brand.yml into a plot theme, so figures follow the same brand as the prose. Arrowheads on the line geoms, and a 64 000 row boxplot drops from 28 seconds to 2.2. mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-08-25-gribouille-0-7/ #Typst #DataViz

The clinician wants the result. The statistician wants the diagnostics behind it. Quarto project profiles give both from one source, so the two documents cannot disagree about a number. quarto.org/docs/projects/profiles.html #Quarto #OpenSource #QuartoPub

I built a clinical study report in Quarto: public CDISC pilot data to a branded Typst PDF and an HTML site from one source. Cover page, approval page, page X of Y, draft watermark, ICH E3 numbering. mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-08-17-quarto-clinical-report/ #Quarto #Typst #RStats

A simple plot composition for this week #TidyTuesday with Gribouille for #Typst, a scatter plot and a ridge-line plot. This one also shows maths in labels and captions. m.canouil.dev/tidytuesday/...

Stop wasting time trying to find manually Quarto extensions, install them from registry, GitHub (public and private), local path, check for updates, etc. Use Quarto Wizard for Positron and VSCode now! Check out the documentation: m.canouil.dev/quarto-wizard/ #Quarto #VSCode #Positron

Gribouille 0.6.0: prepare the data in the document. 'summarise()', pivots and joins on the row-store (all experimental). Axis breaks now come from the extended Wilkinson search, so ticks land on rounder numbers. mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-07-28-gribouille-0-6/ #Typst #DataViz

A bit of an update to my Quarto extensions listing to improve UX. - Use GitLink extension to get a fancy GitHub widget - Use webp and client-side generation of the listing for faster rendering - Filter/search now stays in the URL, so you can share more easily. m.canouil.dev/quarto-exten... #Quarto

I'm happy to share `ir`, a new command-line tool for running portable R scripts and Quarto documents. It's inspired by my two favorite parts of `uv`: self-describing scripts and tools you can run without installing first. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-07...

gitlink 1.8.0 turns a Quarto navbar placeholder into a live repository widget: star and fork counts from the platform API, cached four hours, plus a menu of project links you can extend. Gribouille 0.5.0: native kernel density estimation in pure Typst. Densities, violins, ridgelines, LOESS, streamgraphs, bump and waffle charts. Yes, a lot of amazing stuff 😎 mickael.canouil.fr/posts/2026-07-13-gribouille-0-5/ #typst #dataviz #gribouille
