Two stories at the top of @npr.org 3 pm newscast. US elections and Israel elections. Both stories focus on polls. Early and absentee voting is isn’t mentioned, although a million Michiganians have already voted. That’s lazy.

Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti/Saline Township: got that right.

NEW @pewresearch.org survey (n=10,548) shows increasingly negative views about data centers in the US. Just since January, there have been big attitudinal shifts across the demographic and political spectrum. Full analysis: www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/...

I got an MMR booster last spring - I don’t have a record of when I got my original shot, and we have had measles cases in Washtenaw County. Hopefully we don’t have a serious outbreak.

Catherine Rampell@crampell.bsky.social

The share of U.S. kindergartners with exemptions from school vaccine requirements for the 2025-2026 school year rose to another record high, as the country battles its worst measles resurgence in 35 years.

We need to come to grips with some things. Congress isn’t going to do anything about it. The Supreme Court probably won’t stop it. Costs are going up for a vast majority of people, even if the rich can afford it. Polls are nearly useless in a time where people lack home phones/screen cell calls.

Am I understanding this correctly: 1) New AF1 is delivered without the security of old AF1. 2) He insists on flying in it. 3) Iran threatens the plane. 4) They land in Turkey, remove him in a delivery truck and put him on another plane. 5) Everyone else is left on the non-secure plane.

To paraphrase The Natural, I believe there are two Michigans. The one we live in, and the one the national media has created. You all give me good laughs and also make me want to throw my phone against the wall.

Just a reminder: in 2024, 61% of Michigan votes were early or absentee ballots. Early voting begins on Saturday. Absentee ballots went out in late June. Election Day itself (Aug. 4) is when a smaller portion of voters will cast ballots.

Trivia: I met Ricardo Montalban.

You all will know the answer better than I do. Normally, when a U.S. senator dies, it can take days to name their replacement. They at least wait until after the funeral. The replacement is sometimes a veteran retired politician, or occasionally a widow. At least someone familiar with the law. So

Did you know there have been many film adaptations of The Brothers Karamazov and William Shatner made his film debut in one? You will if you listen.

Michigan is trying to find a new president. It just signed a new football coach. Now it has to find a new men’s basketball coach. Turbulent times in Ann Arbor.

Here’s what you need to know about a Memorandum of Understandung: 1) It’s a memorandum. Not a signed agreement. It has no legal bearing. 2) Of understanding - what each side believes to be true, but which is not stated to be true. Again, no legal bearing. Take it with a grain of salt.

I think MSM has to ask a fundamental question with every story about this White House: Who is getting rich from this? When he says, “I love the inflation,” who benefits? Who benefits from a continued war with Iran? Who did tariffs help most? Who’s making bank on the ballroom?

Prediction: the CBS regime will be gone by fall.
