God, at least old propaganda art was interesting and said something. Now it's just government accounts that are the equivalent of 12 year olds pumping out "edgey" memes that are dead on arrival.

Voice acting is embracing a level of paranoia and secrecy about a project that the community manager of the project's socials can call you the name of the character in their replies and you still aren't sure if you are cleared to announce your involvement 😅

What a dumb way to live.

Tech millionaire turned longevity pioneer Bryan Johnson devotes more than 6 hours a day to trialling different methods to turn back the clock. Can the rest of us learn anything from his radical approach?

I hate how numbers can be tied to this career. They can dictate your success in whether or not your audition gets heard, projects you can get invited to, whether or not you get cast and ultimately, once the numbers are high enough, when you can leave these hell sites for good😅

I think the ability to edit our photos so casually and remove people from them makes our future such a bleak place. Removing a piece of something that happened will make our memories so sterile and our past a safe, boring reality.

At the rate these companies try to justify their investment by shoving AI into things it wouldn't surprise me if one day I boot up my e-reader and a little icon pops up and offers to summarize the book for me.

You did a fantastic job! I can't wait till we are working on the same project😁

I was super fortunate to work with the talents of @jmichaelcollins.bsky.social, @micthematt.com and @chrissharpesvo.bsky.social to put together an interactive character voiceover demo that I'm really really happy with and wanted to share with all of you! #voiceover #demoreel #animation #voiceacting

An important thing to think about for remote vo talent. When you go into a session remotely you don't just represent yourself. You represent all remote talent. A producer/engineer will sometimes base their opinion on one bad session or poor sounding space for all remote talent.

It fucking sucks that there is gonna be a generation of people whose exposure to some classic films is going to amount to a two minute clip which flips the image, over saturates or slaps a filter over it, wipes the clip and has a FUCKING LINE THROUGH IT.

I think the ultimate fulfillment from being an actor isn't fame or recognition but the understanding that you are a part of something that gives people the opportunity to feel something. Whether that be joy, sadness, anger or anything. To be a part of a story that makes you feel.

Gee willikers, I really hope all these extra ads YouTube is running is an effort to make sure the creators on the website are able to earn a living wage and not for their own profit and/or an effort to drive people to their paid version 🙄

Need a word for that specific time for voice actors where the project you are in is released and it's clearly you but you can't talk about it until they say it's okay.

I put a lot of work into my studio audio, space and skills because I don't want to do any editing in post. Not because I dislike editing audio, but I'm kinda lazy and I also hate listening to my own voice😅

Maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't run your space program like a startup.

So Starship Ship 36 just detonated *before* the static fire test - fueled and waiting for the test. Looks like the top tank lets go and sets off the whole stack. It would be bad enough if it let go during the static fire test, but it just blew up. And it's cooking off the fuel tanks on the pad.

Listen, I just want to look like that guy in that one particular mirror in my house, at that particular angle while standing just so, when the light shines through the window at that specific time.

My alma mater was quite emphatic on the subject that acting is NOT therapy. Acting can be cathartic, sure. Accessing certain emotions, especially if you’ve been blocking them in your real life. But the idea that “acting is therapy” misunderstands both acting and therapy’s purposes, for the worse.

Jett Barker@jettbarker.bsky.social

The reason why I recommend that—if they can logistically and financially swing it—folks go to therapy *before* acting professionally is so that you have a better shot of disentangling your self-worth from your work. But the other perk is learning to recognize what characters "inherit" from you.

I don't want a "summary" of my email. I want to fucking read it myself. I don't want to be forced to have tools that I don't want or NEED. Don't shoe horn your bad investment into my work flow because you want to justify the money you spent.

They are so unbelievably and terribly desperate. You don’t do things like this unless you are scraping the bottom of the barrel for revenue and adoption. This is the ultimate form of the tech industry: a despicable, wretched, entitled, destructive, abusive digital despot that wants to con your kids.

So, uh... I just did a Google search which was not about homework... because I haven't been in school in decades, and I got this pop up from Google. And, like, I actually think there are ways to use AI in school properly, but this kind of advertising from Google seems... super sketchy.
