Back in Te Whanganui-a-Tara for the week! Couldn't have asked for better weather for my first night back: rain and howling wind. And I'm being sincere!

I spent the day putting the finishing touches on a stuffed toy I made as a gift for friends with a newborn baby, and let me tell you, this thing is cute as hell.

OUT NOW: It’s our seventh “Oops! All Goofs!” ep, and the only to come by the name honestly: we had a topic ready to go but got so wrapped up in talking about Kengan Omega, sardines, bike helmets, and Swan Boy that an hour went by before we got to it. Oops! Luckily me and Joe talking is the best shit

animesickos.com263: Oops! All Goofs 7 | Anime Sickos - Podcast for GeniusesWe had a topic ready to go after we ran through some quick bullet points, but uh oh! The bullet points took an hour! We discuss the awful manga Kengan Omega,...

I watched both these movies in the last couple days and really enjoyed them both. The cel shading in "Coyote vs. Acme" wasn't my cup of tea, but the quality of the writing more than made up for it. It's very funny!

Also extremely funny to have someone bring up in an over-intellectualised way "the furry fetish" in relationship to the film and try to say that Furry is some attempt at a return to a "pre-cultural state". The word "rupture" was used multiple times.

I didn't see it myself, but I began the comment I made with "As an animator and as someone who's involved in the furry scene...", and apparently this other person's head swung right around hahaha

I've been following the development of "Bouchra" for the last few years, and finally getting to see it last night was a real treat. Truly can't recommend it enough.

There was a panel discussion afterwards, and there were some really interesting points raised by audience members about the role of language and music in the film, and about the queer migrant experience.
