Heading to the US today for #railsworld in Austin, TX. Excited to see everyone and where we’re all headed in this new agentic world. #rails #ruby #ai

If you’re in London next week, it would be great to see you at “Ruby in London” at Mindful Chef HQ, where me, Tobias and Tom are all speaking. Lots of #rubyfriends already coming but room for a few more! It’s going to be a busy one! www.meetup.com/ruby-in-lond... #ruby #rails

New Agents on Rails benchmarking initiative just dropped. The Rails Foundation commissioned @evilmartians.com to get this rolling. Super interesting already but just the beginning rubyonrails.org/2026/8/13/ll... rubyonrails.org/ai

We’ve moved! Morning walk for coffee has had a big upgrade 😃. Thanks #Bristol for 10 great years but now it’s all about #Weymouth #Dorset

This single literally changed my life. As a young kid in Coventry it was so exciting. 2-tone and the Specials took over. Bought every record, then became the sound engineer for years in the 90s iteration. Took me all over the world. Lifelong friends. Still the best band in the world. No question.

New post > When ideas can be brought to life at this pace it ushers in a new way of working... The innovation is and always has been the ideas... now can we can implement these ideas so effortlessly and cheaply, the code essentially becomes a disposable commodity mileswoodroffe.com/articles/cla...

Back home from a fantastic @sfruby.com conference and 10 days in San Francisco. A packed schedule of talks, hack day at #angellist and many great conversations. The #ruby community really still is something special. Thanks @inazarova.bsky.social and team who put in so much in to make this happen.

In a fast moving world of AI, self driving taxis and robots, I love that my favourite cafe in San Francisco hasn’t changed since I was a regular when I lived here 20 years ago. Literally same menu, same pastries, same guy behind the counter. Great to be back! #sanfrancisco #caffetrieste

Heading to San Francisco today for @sfruby. Looking forward to seeing #rubyfriends and catching up with old friends in the place that was home for 10 years! #ruby #sanfrancisco

Happy Birthday Ray Charles. Would have been 95 years old today! I wrote up one amazing and humbling day I had working with him in 2000 here mileswoodroffe.com/articles/thr...

Just arrived in Viana do Castelo for @euruko 2025. So far so good. Looking forward to the conference, talks and of course #rubyfriends. #euruko2025 #ruby #portugal

New blog: mileswoodroffe.com/articles/out... Asked a bunch of folks at Rails World about this and even though an edge case, quite annoying if you happen to bump in to it! My current "solution" is bit questionable, but did mean I could use this witty title for the post ;) #rails #turbo #iframes

Arrive in Amsterdam for #railsworld. Super cool hotel is a great start. This is a view from my window. Dylan on the turntable. Love it! Off out to find some lunch. Looking forward to see so many #rubyfriends and great talks. #ruby #rails

If you’re a Rails developer and interested in native apps, get this book now! I was lucky to tech review it earlier in the year and read every last word, typed every line of code. It’s fantastic. Great work Joe 🎉

Picked up my guitar for the first time since I tripped and broke a couple of fingers in March. Managed a few chords! Next challenge, get running again after smashing my knee in the same epic mishap 😅

I never met Ozzy, but always seemed like a great bloke from afar. I did see him play from side of stage when I was working on the Warped Tour and it somewhat absurdly linked up with OzzFest in 1998 in a field in Wisconsin. It was dubbed "Skating meets Satan" as I recall! RIP Ozzy. Brummie Icon 🤘

This was fantastic. @rosa.codes obviously a fountain of knowledge on Solid Queue with some unique insights from Basecamp/Hey. @robbyonrails.com asking the questions right after I was thinking “I wish he’d ask…”. 10/10 recommended #rails #ruby

New Post: "For experienced Rails developers, there’s orders of magnitude of productivity gains to be had. Right now. No joke." mileswoodroffe.com/articles/cla...

While in #Japan for #rubykaigi I took the opportunity to explore 3 more of the 12 original castles. All these are on #shikoku, and all a long way up! 1. Matsuyama 2. Uwajima 3. Marugame

This was a fantastically detailed talk by @coe401.bsky.social at #rubykaigi about the race to get Happy Eyeballs implemented in TCPSocket .new just in time for Ruby 3.4! Shoutout to the live translator too. That was an action packed, fast paced performance! #ruby #happyeyeballs #translator

Another great #rubykaigi talk, this time from @tenderlove.dev showing how his work on Ruby 3.5 should make Class#new at minimum 1.4x faster. And yes, we are excited! #ruby

24hr+ journey to #rubykaigi in #matsuyama - Bus 2hrs, Flight 14hrs, Shinkansen 4hrs, Shiokaze 4hrs - but all so worth it! Still only day 1 afternoon and already had dinner with @matz.bsky.social and other rubyists, met countless #rubyfriends and seen some stellar talks! #ruby

Great talk and deep dive on PIDs and bringing PIDFDs to #ruby from long time #rubyfriend and #karafka creator Maciej at #rubykaigi

Very interesting new tools launched and great talk from #rubyfriend @marcoroth.dev at #rubykaigi. Excited to dig in to Herb! github.com/marcoroth/herb 🌿

En-route to #rubykaigi in #japan and impressed already by the merch game this year 😉 #ruby

Happy 25th Anniversary to those who remember...

With one more run planned in 2024 I wondered how far I’d done this year. Turns out it’s just over 500 miles! Didn’t set a goal but this feels like a good accomplishment! 🎉 #running #fitness #theproclaimers

Throwback to Christmas 1983 where it all started for me with the ZX Spectrum. Visiting my cousin and dug this out of the attic! Defender in ~30 lines of code 🔥 #sinclair #zxspectrum #BASIC
