๐Ÿ“ฃ 2 of 2: If you really donโ€™t enjoy reading non-fiction books, maybe you can choose a novel inspired by real-life events? ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿ“š But whatever you decide, we hope youโ€™ll join us at our #CatChatBookClub meet-up on the usual FOURTH Sunday of the month - 22 November 8pm UK time. ALL WELCOME โค๏ธ

Weโ€™re so happy to welcome @tia-phoebe.bsky.social to #CatChatBookClub here & weโ€™re most grateful to them for sharing mumโ€™s thoughts on this bookish book! A super thread.

Tia ๐Ÿ’œ & Phoebe ๐Ÿงก@tia-phoebe.bsky.social

This book sounded like a good read. Miranda loved her Uncle Billy as a child, heโ€™s a bit unreliable but a lot of fun as he makes everything a game with clues to where heโ€™s taking her. He also owns a bookshop where sheโ€™s allowed to roam through the aisles 1/4 #catchatbookclub

And finally, for the spooky season, Mum is rereading a book which she first brought to #CatChatBookClub 5 yrs ago: Frankenstein. Mum remembered how much she enjoyed the read & so decided to revisit it. She has almost finished & has been very moved by this story, once again. (Her notes are from 2021)

Another recent read of mumโ€™s is โ€œThe Paris Libraryโ€ by Janet Skeslien Charles (a thoughtful gift from a friend) which would fit the #CatChatBookClub โ€œHeartwarmingโ€ theme this month. The story is told via alternating locations & two different time periods & mum enjoyed itโ€ฆ.

Mum chose a โ€œspine-chillingโ€ book as her main #CatChatBookClub read, this month. โ€œThe Burning Girlsโ€ by C J Tudor isnโ€™t her usual choice of genre but she absolutely loved it & was gripped from page 1. So many brilliant twists, turns & revelationsโ€ฆ& it didnโ€™t completely terrify!

Welcome to October 2026 #CatChatBookClub ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ“š This month weโ€™ve been choosing between books which are SPINE-CHILLING or HEARTWARMING! Or maybe you have read something completely different! ๐Ÿ˜น Join in by using club hashtag & tell us about your reading choices - scary or not ๐Ÿ‘ป

๐Ÿ“ฃ Just a gentle reminder that itโ€™s our #CatChatBookClub meet-up TOMORROW, Sunday 25 October 2026 at 8pm UK time ๐Ÿ˜ธ ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‘ป All welcome ๐Ÿ“š (NB UK clocks go back 1 hour on Saturday night!)

๐Ÿ“ฃ Looking ahead to October #CatChatBookClub & of course weโ€™re heading into the spooky season. We know not everyone enjoys scary books, so we give you a choice: โ€œSpine-Chilling or Heartwarmingโ€ Which will you choose? ๐Ÿค” Tweetup on Sunday 25 October 2026 at 8pm UK time ๐Ÿ˜ธ ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‘ป

Hooray for #Friyay & mumโ€™s been out on a little #Hedgewatch of her own. Here are some photos of the latest postbox topper ๐Ÿ“ฎ ๐Ÿงถ which she saw, not far from our home. The clever mystery creator is embracing the spooky season! We think itโ€™s supurrb! ๐ŸŽƒ ๐Ÿ‰ ๐Ÿ’€

Thanks go to everyone who contributed to our #CatChatBookClub September meet up & made it such an enjoyable occasion. Our TBR list is even longer than ever now ๐Ÿ˜น Weโ€™re off to bed now & will catch up tomorrow with any posts we missed. Hereโ€™s a reminder of our October theme ๐Ÿ˜ธ ๐Ÿ‘ป

thanks for the advisory! LR Wright, is a recent favorite. Her Albert and Cassandra series is very atmospheric. Set near Vancouver which is fun - she describes the countryside. And the characters are great. Probably authored in 1970โ€™s? Not cozy but not too violent, fun reads.

I really liked Whistler. A little sad but shows the impact an adult can have in a short time on a impressionable child. #catchatbookclub

Welcome to September 2026 #CatChatBookClub ๐Ÿ˜บ๐Ÿ“š Some of us have been reading books with โ€œAutumnal Vibesโ€ ๐Ÿ‚ ๐Ÿ after this theme won in the poll but as always, ALL book-chat, is most welcome, regardless of theme! Just search ๐Ÿ” & use club hashtag to join in! Enjoy noms too!

Mumโ€™s off-theme read this month, was โ€œHelle & Deathโ€ by Oskar Jensen. Sadly she didnโ€™t enjoy it at all despite the setting being full of promise for an Agatha Christie type of parody. Mum found the plot weak & didnโ€™t like the characters. A disappointing twist too #CatChatBookClub

Mumโ€™s tenuous link to the #CatChatBookClub theme is โ€œDiary of a Somebodyโ€ by Brian Bilston. Written in diary form, some of the action was in Autumn ๐Ÿ˜น ๐Ÿ‚ Mum first read it in 2022 & has longed to reread it since as she enjoyed it so much. Her notes from now & then are attached.

Mumโ€™s September reading included 1 on-theme book, 1 with a tenuous link to theme & 1 off-theme! Hereโ€™s her thoughts about the book she chose which purrfectly fit the Autumnal #CatChatBookClub theme. She really loved the short stories by Agatha Christie: ๐Ÿ˜ธ๐Ÿงก ๐Ÿ‚ ๐Ÿ

The fourth book Mum read this month was The Moonlight Gardening Club by Rosie Hannigan. This was a lovely book about the therapeutic benefits of a community garden, planted with white and silvery plants to be best enjoyed under moonlight. 1/2 #catchatbookclub ๐Ÿ“š

Weโ€™re so happy that @tia-phoebe.bsky.social mum enjoyed one of our reading recommendations! #Catchatbookclub

Mumโ€™s third book was The Garden of Memories by Amanda James, reviewed by @milliemall.bsky.social in May (attached). We loved this book and the way Roseโ€™s retirement, and decision to bring her late husbandโ€™s garden back to life, turned a group of strangers into friends.๐Ÿ’œ #catchatbookclub ๐Ÿ“š

Another super review from @tia-phoebe.bsky.social Weโ€™re so glad mum enjoyed the book! #Catchatbookclub

Mumโ€™s second book was Guilty by Definition by Susie Dent, reviewed last month by @milliemall.bsky.social who kindly sent Mum the book to read. We loved this book and were intrigued by the mystery โ€˜Chorusโ€™. Millieโ€™s excellent review is attached. Definitely recommended.๐Ÿ’œ #catchatbookclub ๐Ÿ“š

Mum forgot to post here last night! Her first book was a recommendation, The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge & was perfect for this monthโ€™s theme. We loved this book. There was a brave heroine, friendship, mystery, intrigue & adventure. Mum couldnโ€™t put it down.๐Ÿ’œ #catchatbookclub ๐Ÿ“š

Thanks go to everyone who contributed to todayโ€™s #CatChatBookClub ๐Ÿ˜ธโค๏ธ๐Ÿ“š Keep the reading reviews & recommendations coming! Iโ€™ll be posting our reading theme for September in a couple of daysโ€ฆ
