Reecey's bloodwork results are back after her medication episode last week. She has early (stage 2) kidney disease. It is manageable and I'm starting her on a prescription diet. I'll do another good test on a couple months to get an idea of how it is progressing.

A Tatra with at least 4 axles, and at least two of them steer axles. I might keep my job for a bit despite the money just so I could commute in it and look down at all the Truck Bros in their cute little lifted F350s.

question for the audience: if you were ultra rich (let’s say $25M), what completely frivolous thing are you buying?

Hey speaking of this: Is there a better term for "grandfathered" that doesn't have the awful historical implications? Just one of those words I prefer not to use anymore. Cause that's exactly what the ATF is not promising for anyone getting NFA items right now without paperwork.

What's extra crazy about this is that the ATF has released guidance in reference to this change, and it basically says "look you are legal now but this was all done in a way that offers no provision for future law changes."

Look what just showed up. It's a BIG model, I'm going to have trouble finding a page to display it. I really like this shop design. I really wish the model didn't have the outer saucer permanently attached, though.

That's a 14" laptop it's sitting on, for scale. It's easily the biggest Fanhome model so far. Quite a bit larger than any of the other XLs. Even just the main section without the nacelles is pretty big. Here's it is between two XL-size Enterprises

As a Slenderman who is 60% legs, this is the most hopeful future I've ever seen promised in sci-fi: A future where they make not just pants, but bodysuits, that fit.

Another action sheet (?) as I try to figure out the style. This time it's the ship's Slenderman First Officer. He is 60% legs 🫠 #StarTrek #OriginalArt #OriginalCharacter #Celeste

Like many Nissan concepts, there was also a Pivo 2 with spider wheels. The individual wheel pods could swing, and each wheel could steer within its pod, all independently, allowing for crazy maneuverability. It also had a horrible Porg thing on the dashboard for some damn reason.

I would have listed high quality images with the goddamn getty watermark, but for some effing reason the ones direct from Nissan's historical concepts library are "not supported" by bluesky despite being fucking jpegs. @bsky.app your app sucks

Reecey got some gabapentin yesterday for arthritis pain and she's still absolutely zonked from it. I'm not sure why; she has taken the same dose countless times before. She keeps tipping over when she stands up. I have blocked the stairs off so she can't get hurt.

Have the car companies tried making a GOOD cheap EV? That's what I thought. You can't take the Tesla approach and scale it down to get a cheap EV that anyone wants. These buyers aren't tech enthusiasts or early adopters. They want a car they can afford, not a showpiece.

turns out GM was right, Americans piss and moan that there aren’t any cheap EVs but they will not buy them if you make one www.motortrend.com/news/2027-ch...

Every new technology eventually comes primarily an advertising medium. Which raises a point I've been making for decades: there's no way we haven't long surpassed the point of diminishing returns on advertising even for the businesses running the ads. It's purely masturbatory.

This was incredibly hard to do because I am very much an "album person." There aren't a whole lot of "standalone" songs I really love that don't come from albums full of songs I love. And I like a LOT of music. This is skewed older simply because old stuff has had more time to shape my taste.

If I had to do this again an hour from now I might come up with different results. I could probably pick two or three other albums from any of these artists and feel just as good about the result. And I could easily stretch this to a 4x4 grid with no difficulty.

Finally getting around to listen to Star Trek: Khan. It is really good. Well acted and I'm having a lot less trouble identifying voices than I feared I would. Tim Russ is great as always and it's fun to hear more about his time under my favorite Captain on my favorite ship.

AI isn't a race ANYONE is going to win OR lose because the entire course is going to explode and take all the racers with it before anyone can finish. So why diminish ourselves and our communities in pursuit of it? So shitty companies can make more money while raising prices?

On October 2nd 1959, Chevrolet introduced their first compact car, the 1960 Corvair. That makes today National Corvair Day. So happy Corvair Day from my weird little guys.

If you believe the Internet, it's these two. But really it was a ~2013 Accent rental that was so terrifyingly gutless I saw my life flash before my eyes while merging. I was staying at a hotel whose only exit was a right turn driveway, uphill, onto a 55mph highway. Too much for the little 1.6.
