In Abbey Wharf in Whitby, the scrape of cutlery against plates, the sun shining onto my table. Outside, on the water, a yellow boat, its yellow bunting fluttering in the breeze.

A woman on the train wearing earrings made from parts of recycled cans smiles at a baby in a bright yellow cardigan, who giggles back at her.

I'm so excited! For years listeners to my multi-award-winning podcast Stopping to Notice have been asking to listen to longer episodes than the 5 minute ones we make. Dear readers, I earn a little from my books but not my podcast or from sharing my work online. I do it because I love it, and people enjoy reading and listening to my small moments. Surviving as a creative is increasingly hard. Only if you can, support me here: patreon.com/MirandaKeeling ✍️ 🙏 ❤️

Early stroll. Lights on the old pit stack. I imagine that carpet of fallen leaves as a difficult jigsaw. A puddle the colour of printer ink. The horse and the cockerel as Vladimir and Estragon. Resting excavators.

With a proud smile, a barista in a café says, ‘Yes’ to my request to photograph what she tells me is her first attempt at a snail in the foam of someone’s coffee.

October journal pages📓 Playing with collage, drawing, painting and washi-tape and seeing how it feels to embrace mistakes in our art sometimes. 💯 human-made, out of my comfort zone as a writer, and such fun! ✨🎨

Teenager standing on the pavement: Sunshine! His friend: For a change. Teen: It's nice. His friend: Will it stay though? Teen: Just be with the moment bruv.

I have a friend who is an A&E nurse and she told me once, 'The arts are so important. If you aren't out there making the world a better place then what are we patching people up in hospital for?' Whenever you doubt your (often difficult) choice to continue to be a creative person, remember that ❤️

For years I have been posting little observations online and for years, artists have been illustrating them - for no reason other than they wanted to respond. Below is a thread of some of these beautiful drawings because they should be seen 🧵 Art in this first post by Steve May. Words by me.

Me in the park: Lovely dog, how old is he? Woman: Actually it's his birthday today. He's one. Me: Oh that's nice (to the dog) Happy Birthday (to the woman) did he get anything? Woman: Yes. A trip to the vets.

It's a fledgling Patreon, and so I have only 38 members...If I could get to 50 that would be amazing!! ☺️ If any of the offers interest you, perhaps you could become member no.40 🎉🥰
