2 weeks from now, you could be in London connecting with narrative and adventure game fans, developers, and industry professionals at #AdvX26! Less than 10% of tickets left. Make your plans for a great weekend of your favorite games and game devs now: www.tickettailor.com/events/adven...

When I was a kid, I constantly daydreamed about doing animation, and I was bitterly envious of kids on TV doing rubbish animations with 8mm film cameras. And now it's so easy and cheap for young people to have a go. Not everyone has a smartphone or a laptop, but it's SO much more accessible now.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Look at that. I'm so deeply in-character that their screams make different mouth-shapes. Wow. Is there an acting award for that?

The name Sudowrite shows how well they know their target users. How many working writers will get a reference to the Unix command versus how many will be repulsed and offended by the idea of pseudo-writing?

‘Sudowrite, the “best AI for novel writing”, promises to maintain your ‘unique voice’. Whether or not you have a unique voice, it will give you scene directions and alternative options for the plot, and act as your editor.’ Alfred Nunney on AI and books, from the blog. www.lrb.co.uk/blog/2026/oc...

I haven't made a clip from our Goosebumps episode yet, so please enjoy me and @eleanormorton.bsky.social listening to the much-missed Tim Curry singing the Worst Song from the Worst Witch: More episodes: linktr.ee/readthat

Is this the greatest music video ever? @eleanormorton.bsky.social and I discover what might be the sexiest/spookiest performance of Tim Curry's career in The Worst Witch (1986). linktr.ee/readthat

If closing surely the least expensive radio channel the BBC has (run by a tiny number of people, broadcasting the work of mainly dead people), bothers you, then why not sign this petition you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

Not sure how much money closing Radio 4 extra will save. I am happy to forgo my £22 a year from repeat fees if that helps.

I was watching, in New Zealand [on YouTube] this evening. I had to pause the show to listen to my dearly beloved wife. Very disturbing.

I saw people on Kickstarter asking for their money back from a game that raised about £25,000 11 YEARS AGO and is still in development. Your money is gone! Kickstarter isn't a pre-order system. Leave them alone!

Hey, authors, illustrators, poets, etc in the UK and Ireland! I’ve put together a statement in support of Sally Rooney with the help of others. Message me if you’d like to sign?

That this bot, which posts random stills and clips from the thousands of hours of VHS transfers on archive.org, landed on *this specific frame* feels like finding the monkey at the typewriter that managed to write Hamlet.

I'm confident that the creators of wholesome, all-American pageant Little Shop of Horrors would be dead against cross-dressing.

I think they were probably right to cut this ending for the film, but how good is that outside broadcast on the TV with Audrey 2 in the background? Just an incredible practical effects shot.

Anyway, let's enjoy the original ending of Little Shop, about how America is a stupid country full of grasping consumerist jerks.

About 10 years ago, my girlfriend's boss asked her what her dinner parties were like. People pay minimum wage in London and think their employees are throwing dinner parties.

Jess Calarco@jessicacalarco.com

This article offers half a dozen reasons why people have stopped having friends and family over, but it ignores the fact that the women who planned parties and kept homes tidy enough for unplanned guests are now working for pay full-time (usually more than 9-5). www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle...

This morning we're discussing what it means to be ethnically English. Coming up later we tackle the climate change debate and for today's phone-in we're asking "How much arsenic should you give a child?" Let us know what you think. But first, what happens if I put my entire head into this dark hole?
