Me as a kid: Nobody could figure out who Batman was Me as an adult: He drives to crime scenes so he is local. He needs to have a ton of money. He also can’t have a day job as he is up all night. Gee, who could it be?

Me as a child: How does Batman have time to do everything? Me as an adult: Man, Batman's life is easy. No childcare, eldercare, commuting, long work hours, budgeting ,cooking, cleaning and taking care of a house. He has plenty of time to be a superhero.

There is a game called universal paperclip about an out of control AI that convert the universe into paperclips. I'm currently using the comet browser to have an AI play the game. It's weird.

Me: I'm not a nerd. Anyone else: So how do you keep lists of stuff that needs to be fixed at the house? Me: I'm running my own GitLab container in Proxmox with a private OAuth server to log in and multi site backup. The items are issues under a project named home. Anyone else: Exactly...

It is so satisfying to write something and have the time to build security controls into it so that it is sturdy. It is nice to develop hobby projects because you don’t have that viable minimum product pressure.

First experience with “vibe coding” definitely sped up my development. Needed to intervene for some of the more complicated areas. Still needed to understand and test code to make sure it worked as intended. Secure design and threat model had to be human. Documentation was easy

Man, just watched the Dark Mirror episode on the brain implant. Dark stuff. This is why I don’t want to work for a company whose goal is just profit. If everyone just did that, humanity wouldn’t survive.

#rust So, I found what I think is a bug in Rust. When running on the command line, this code only returns up to 1020 files but it returns all files in a VScode terminal. How can I report this? for entry in fs::read_dir(dir_path)?

Does this happen to you? Me: Happily doing some home task. My brain: You know when you added one to that number you can overflow that 128 bit unsigned int? Me: what are the odds of that happening? My brain: Never, but you’re going to have to fix it right now.

Don't misunderstand me, there is a lot of uncertainty in dealing with government contracts with all the change going on. It feels good knowing that I’m helping a team to provide real technical research with operational impacts to make the world a safer place.

I think Bruce and Hidi are stopping #Schmoocon because they don't want to re-enginer the ticket process beacuse next year somone will write an LLM to answer the question automatically. BTW anyone have the last 10 years of questions?

You are up to date.
