Perhaps someone with experience/expertise can weigh in @dbrauer.net for example. I’m pretty inured to media-speak but is this just AP-style guide to characterize the ad as “controversial” because that’s a “neutral” term? It’s both technically accurate and wildly understated.
President Donald Trump stepped up his support for a controversial ad featuring the estranged mother of Ohio’s Democratic candidate for governor, Amy Acton, despite intensifying Republican opposition to the campaign spot.
@boisefootballdude.bsky.social Broncos gave the Ducks a good scare, yesterday.
All human behavior has purpose. Very little human behavior has conscious intent. Most common primary purpose is safety (emotional/physical, etc) but almost all have more than one. Unless we are one of the privileged few with actual mind-reading abilities, we are only guessing about others’ intent.
What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

@saralegal.bsky.social Hello. Just wanted to say a much belated thank you to you. Several months ago -- unsure of exact timing -- in a thread you recommended the Chronicles of Prydain series.
Despite having read -- I thought -- every major fantasy series when I was a kid -- long, long ago -- I had somehow missed CoP. Anyway, I made note of the recommendation and finally read book one + thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will be continuing. I wanted to share my appreciation and proper credit. 👍
@randball.bsky.social When Michael Rand says your snarky Bluesky name and reads your comment on the Daily Delivery podcast YouTube stream:
@blindeke.bsky.social @vincempls.bsky.social Unsure if you were able to attend given No Kings but I was lucky enough to catch this fantastic presentation via Zoom by James Garrett, Jr. this afternoon. North Star Voices: "Uncle Cap" and Black Architectural Excellence www.mnhs.org/events/36763...
@tarantical.bsky.social Wanted to share that I just finished "The Outrun" based on your post awhile back. It was lovely and amazing! Excellent recommendation!
@randballsstu.bsky.social is it my imagination or did I pick up the name of singer “Bryan Andrews” from you via an episode (of a 3-4 month vintage) of The Sportive?
@normcharlatan.bsky.social Was really hoping this turned out to be “Federal Way” in the photo but alas…
Murdered guy “not pictured.”

@chrissteller.bsky.social Headline suggests “bars” = “bans/limits/restricts” until I reread it as “bars” = “establishments”.
A “scuffle?” No, no a scuffle is when one drunk bumps into another a they both shove and posture and maybe a glass is broken. Skull fractures arise out of a full beat down or at worst a fracas.

I like the term “peddler” here. Like, he just had a little cart or stand set up somewhere where he peddled knickknacks and narcotics. Bring the term “peddler” back!
James Daugherty (1928) Source: Hennepin County Library Daugherty, narcotic peddler, is shown in a mugshot photo. He is recently awarded parole after writing his own plea to the judge.
