Had a good time with the new Street Fighter movie! I can't imagine anyone who didn't play the games enjoying it at all, but for those of us who did, it's exactly the dumb good time you were sold.

2026 games finished thread 1: Nine Sols I love a good Metroidvania and a tough-but-fair challenge, and this was both. Bosses require you to really lock in, and it felt great to finally beat them. Even if I spent over an hour on a boss, I never felt frustrated; it was always a learning experience.

14. Tales from Candleforth Took a chance on this short, hand-drawn point-and-click adventure (it was at the local library), and glad I did. No moon-logic puzzles; I didn’t have to look anything up. I’d be happy if it turns into a longer series.

15. Her Trees I planned to just check it out, and ended up playing the whole thing in one go. A cool, free puzzle game that only takes about an hour. All puzzles are available from the get-go, so when one stumps you (most did for me at first!), you can go check out another. I had a great time!

hertrees.ioHer TreesPlay Her Trees and enjoy beautifully designed puzzle rooms filled with hidden symbols, interactive objects, and rewarding mysteries waiting to be solved.

12. Donkey Kong Bananza Predictably excellent. Never really challenging (boss battles ended in about a minute, first try), but a lot of fun. Smashing through everything didn’t get old for the whole runtime. Great soundtrack, too, particularly the Zebra and Banadium Core Tower themes.

13. Yurukill Fun mix of Danganronpa with shoot-em-up gameplay. I initially had some trouble with the villain’s motivations, but after sitting with it, I have some headcanon that makes it work. Let’s see a sequel that takes it further.

10. Rift of the Necrodancer A lot of fun! A straight rhythm game, but with the main challenge being reading the notes to play that are encoded as monsters. Also has some Punch-Out!! and Rhythm Heaven. On paper, sounds great; in practice, even better. And the kids love it, too.

11. Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library! A good, relaxing game that scratches the Powerwash Simulator itch, but because I needed to be reading the book titles, it isn’t mindless enough that I could listen to podcasts while playing. Really recommended for the price.

If they insist we use Lake America instead of Lake Ontario, HOMES doesn't work as a mnemonic to remember the names of the Great Lakes. I suggest we all use SHAME.

8. Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster I’m playing through the Pixel Remasters in order, and had a great time with FF3. A solid return to form after FF2 (which was still fun, but I don’t feel like I’ll go back to it any time soon).

6. Spray Paint Simulator If you’re done with both Power Wash Simulator games and need more content, this will do. That’s definitely me, so I had a good time listening to an audiobook and covering things with paint.

7. Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis P3R was a great time that I recommend to everyone. The DLC was a slog that took a year to finish because I kept putting it off. I ended up turning the difficulty all the way down to just get through it. Even if you loved the base game, I can’t say I recommend it.

4: Super Crazy Rhythm Castle Fun rhythm gaming mixed with Overcooked-style multiplayer chaos gaming. I mainly played single player because the rhythm portions are tough for my kids, but they had a good time with other non-rhythm tasks. I enjoyed it a lot!

5. One Upon a Katamari Certainly the most fun I’ve had with a Katamari game since the PS2. No weird gimmicks or anything, just fun. Definitely worth a play for series fans.

2: Atari Mania Fun WarioWare-like game where classic Atari games are mashed together. I don’t really have a lot of nostalgia for Atari (NES was my first system), but it was fun and short enough to keep me engaged to the end.

3: Power Wash Simulator 2 More of the same, which is good! At the end of a long day, putting on a podcast and playing PWS is just perfect. I hope this series doesn’t stop any time soon.

Am I the only one whose favorite Donkey Kong Country game is DKC3? The gameplay and soundtrack are as good as ever, and the additions to the overworld gameplay make it feel more like one big world. I'm replaying it now, and yeah, it's as good as I remember.

Scrubs is good, Jon Stewart is hosting The Daily Show, Leon S. Kennedy is roundhouse kicking zombies. You know what, kids? You can stay on my lawn if you want.

It told me, with confidence, that while there aren't any, there was a canceled SNES game called "King K. Rool's Krazy Kartoon Kapers." I had never heard of this (and I feel like I would've), so I asked for some evidence. It provided links where people were talking about the game. (2/3)

None of those links worked. They sure looked real, but they weren't. It made the whole thing up, and even made up fake sources. And if you Google the name of the game, you'll get no results. AI is great at sounding real, but remember it's often smoke and mirrors. (3/3)

I really enjoyed the Sea of Stars expansion, Throes of the Watchmaker. More of what I loved, and friendly for players who haven't played it in a while. Looking forward to Sabotage's next game.

The Rhythm Heaven Groove announcement nearly had me in tears. We get to live the next year knowing that a new game is coming, just like we've lived the last six years for Hollow Knight

It's so weird seeing people post about how TV shows get canceled now, and they never did before. "Back in the day, shows were allowed to find themselves, and got at least three seasons!" Yeah, the ones you remember did.

Just got my Playstation 30th Anniversary Dualsense, and it even has a special microtexture, with the number 3 mixed in with the PlayStation shapes to make the number 30. Almost impossible to see with the naked eye, such a cool detail!
