Third activity for #ScienceSymposium! Cans = infected patient. Bean bags = antimicrobials. Can only use antimicrobials which are susceptible per the micro report. Oh no! Some are on shortage ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Can you cure your patient?!? (Kids got really into this one!)

Happy #IDPharmacistsDay! To celebrate #BeyondTheRx here are some fun educational activities I'll be leading for 3rd-5th graders to do during the #ScienceSymposium this Friday! Can you differentiate between an antibiotic name and a Pokemon? Can you design your own antibiotic (Antimicrobial)?

Pleased to share our article is published (in the pretty format) re: RSV vaccination in an ambulatory clinic. Led by our amazing PGY2 AmbCare resident Amy Liu during a 2 week period bc ... she was just too damned good at her rotation and we needed to fill the time somehow ๐Ÿ˜‚ doi.org/10.1017/ash....

This is what I call a #duh study (over 75% of eligible patients had medicare and had to be referred to yet another pharmacy/clinic to receive) but hopefully this can serve as a call to arms or evidence so we can get lawmakers to change the ridiculous vaccine coverage rules #AGirlCanDream

The 2026 #ScienceSymposium is coming up! I've updated the Make Your Own Antibiotic worksheet and I've introduced a new Antibiotic or Pokemon game (some of these stumped me!) The 3rd activity will be a bean bag (antibiotic) toss at cans (bacteria) based on antibiogram. That's a project for next week

#ScienceSymposium 2026 coming up. What activities to do this year? Thinking I'll have the kids choose an antibiogram card. Bean bags with drug names on them. Based on their antibiogram, they can only use susceptible bean bags to try to kill bacteria (tin cans with bacteria faces)

It's arts and crafts time. Which means ... #ScienceSymposium is coming up (3-5th grade STEM career fair) These will go inside opaque petri dishes so the kids can match the bacteria with an antibiogram and find an active antimicrobial.

It'll teach them that ABX are a limited resource and we can't use all ABX for all bacteria. Plus, they get to throw things. Will also bring back the Mad libs style design your own ABX sheets. Those were fun #ScienceSymposium

Here's the mad libs one bsky.app/profile/mmph...

Once again I'm headed to the 3rd-5th grade STEM career fair & am repping infectious diseases/pharmacy. I created this mad-libs type activity to make your own antibiotic. Any easy ๐Ÿ˜‚ & constructive feedback is appreciated. And no I'm not changing it to "antimicrobial" bc this is for the children

I left my phone at home today, and it was so nice to not be bombarded with all the terrible headlines. And then I met up with a friend for dinner, and it was a nice pocket of playing pretend.

Welcome to the first Monday in 2026. Today, I sent my technician a list of 10 patients who needed PAs for their HIV meds. The kicker? Most of them were for Biktarvy and Dovato. AKA 1st line regimens who have no business needing PAs. ๐Ÿคฌ Insurance companies

Last December I challenged myself to not buy a single item of clothing for myself in 2025 I present to you, the 4 items I did in fact purchase: 1. TS TLOAS cardi 2. TS Lover cardi 3. Plain T to make Life of an OPAT Girl shirt 4. BIL's band's shirt (Prymora) Technically..that's merch not clothing
