Hawaii enacted a law that could neuter Citizens United. Montana could soon follow suit via a ballot referendum. Here's what you should know about the plans to get Big Money out of politics — and how they could be replicated where you live.

Please remember this when Trump or anyone else from his regime talks about "waste, fraud, and abuse."

Coal companies are fighting miners’ federal black lung benefits claims, while the black lung rate surges to a 50-year high. Remember: Trump indefinitely stalled a rule that would limit miners’ exposure to dangerous silica dust, which causes black lung. The “pro-worker” president.

"FLURONA" co-infection increases the risk of severe illness and death. Published: March 2022 "A study published in The Lancet found that those with COVID-19 and FLU were 4 times more likely to require breathing support and 2.4 times more likely to die"

Fake opinion polls are at work here in the US. www.research-live.com/article/news...

The NFL kicks off tonight with the Seahawks taking on the Patriots. The Seahawks just became the latest team to take on private equity investment. But private equity isn't just sinking its teeth into the NFL — it's investing in other sports leagues and countless other industries. Be warned.

Please join me at a live event! I'm looking forward to meeting readers and to sharing floral tales🌻 This is an updated and corrected schedule. I'll post times and registration links as I receive them on my website dghaskell.com.

Where destiny with men for pieces plays and each one moves and mates and slays and one by one, back in the closet lays.

The Supreme Court has refused to hear Crooked Donald’s appeal. He must pay E Jean Carroll $5 million. In another suit, the courts awarded her $83 million. With accrued interest, that judgment now amounts to over $100 million. www.cnn.com/2026/06/29/p...

They are the men behind the man. They fund the misinformation and disinformation. They fund the business and professional association. They fund the PACs and super PACs, as political hacks promote fake grassroots organizations. Let’s call them astroturf.

A Guide to Enjoying Wildflowers by Donald W. Stokes Currently reading this gem.

"I like it when a flower or a little tuft of grass grows through a crack in the concrete. It's so fuckin' heroic." -- George Carlin, who died #OTD 2008

Law and order from the Amber Alert Presidency

The MOU is pure delay & obfuscation by the IRGC who doesn’t want/need a deal. They have the cards, they know it. Trump was correct, this war did end with unconditional surrender—ours.

Nobody is vandalizing the Reflecting Pool, and Trump knows it. This is a visible example of his corruption--a no-bid contract to some crony followed by sky-high cost overruns, and shoddy construction to boot. Classic Trump: I didn't fuck up, it was my enemies.

@theactionnetwork.bsky.social This book exposes the dangers of Coal Ash and the fight workers who cleaned up the Kingston Steam Plant spill faced when they became sick. Several died because of exposure to toxic coal ash. hellbenderpress.org/news/a-tale-...

I just took action with @theactionnetwork.bsky.social: Don’t let toxic coal ash pollute our communities. Take action here: actionnetwork.org/forms/dont-l...

A number of conservatives are up in arms about Fraud. Apparently, they believe that a man who was ordered to pay $25 million in damages for running a fake university can fix this problem.

open.substack.com/pub/rayzimme... what’s your genre.

I am rereading Mary Oliver’s lovely book of essays, Upstream. Her childhood trauma became poetry through conversations with trees, wildflowers, and all other living things. She talks about the process and does not dwell on the trauma.

President Trump’s likeness may soon appear on a new $250 bill. Putting him on the nickel would be more appropriate, since neither he nor the nickel is worth a dime.

We shouldn't dismiss flowers as merely ornamental – these blooms are world-changers, argues a vivid new book by David George Haskell. Michael Marshall is mostly convinced

He's done it again. No-one writes on nature quite like @dghaskell.bsky.social. What he did for trees in The Songs Of Trees he does here for flowering plants. One of the most important - and most difficult - things in nature writing is conveying scale and depth, and Haskell is an absolute master.
