Check out the program for our Winter 2026/27 Semester Work-in-Progress seminar! We’ve already hosted one external speaker: Naomi Kim Netzell (Umeå Universitet). (Pictured: Murat, Luis Lopez, who also joined the session, Catherine, and Naomi). #ERCStG #FrontierResearch

What role should economic models play in legal proceedings? Our postdoc Edoardo Peruzzi explores this question in his new paper, “The Evidential Role of Economic Models in Legal Proceedings,” focusing on the use of economic models in antitrust cases.

A fresh contribution to the development of digital methods in the history of economic thought!

A new contribution by our postdoc Edoardo Peruzzi has just appeared in the Elgar Encyclopedia of Competition Law: a short entry on "Competition"! In the entry, he discusses the role of competition in contemporary policy and how its meaning has evolved in the history of economics.

Bele served as commentator for the lecture "The Transmission of Information and Misinformation," which examined how models originally developed to study the spread of COVID can be adapted to analyze the dissemination of information and misinformation. #FrontierResearch #ERCStG #ModelTransfer

He proposes a framework based on theoretical templates as intermediate representational structures that generate families of models. On this view, vertical progress consists in systematic development within model families, while horizontal progress consists in the introduction of new templates.

In the paper, he asks: How does scientific progress work in model-based sciences such as economics? He argues that the common distinction between horizontal and vertical progress in terms of model addition versus model replacement is misleading and does not clarify how the two are related.

Our PI @cherfeld.bsky.social joins this wonderful event as a lecturer! On June 10, she will give a talk entitled "Awakening Sleeping Beauties in Economics: The Role of Model Transfer." #ModelTransfer #ERCStG #FrontierResearch

We are moving into the beautiful new research building #ForumWissenschaftsreflexion at the end of June, and we are delighted to celebrate this milestone at its inaugural conference! As part of the conference, our team member Murat Bakeev will participate in a workshop for young researchers. -->

Reminder: In June, #ForumWissenschaftsreflexion will open its doors. We are excited to move into our new research building dedicated to the #ScienceOfScience, and want to celebrate with you! For this purpose, we are hosting our Inaugural Conference from June 17-19. #PhilSci #HPS #SocSky #STS

On June 19, he will give a talk entitled “Why the History of Science Matters to Society: The Case of Economics,” exploring how Hasok Chang’s account of history as a complementary science can contribute to our reflection on the relationship between science and society. #FrontierResearch #ERCStG

🔹A presentation by Murat Bakeev in the parallel session "Philosophy and Historiography," where he presented his and Catherine's joint work on integrated history and philosophy of economics. The conference has been incredibly stimulating, and we look forward to the final day tomorrow.
