Had to skip "Digger" and "Rose" due to illness but I have tickets for two "The Devils" screenings and I intended to use both. Halloween will be crazy.

Sometimes I feel like I am using Letterboxd score system wrong. Beacuse to me 5 stars mean a groundbreaking masterpiece that changes the course of cinema's history and it looks like most people are like "had fun, 5 stars".

After playing some "Witcher 3" remaster I finally giving up. The light engine is quite broken either way but I can live with that as when it works it produces some gorgeous results but that constant crashing while loading data is too much. Last time I saw game so u stable was MGSV.

I will have to wait for it to get patched as in this state it is quite frustrating. Once it even crashed during a fight it is not only exploration.

"Primetime" was really good. While it is a very 2006 set film, I think the bigger, more modern picture is more interesting. Clout chasing and thrill of attention seeking in post 9/11 reality is still here. The screen as the way to see clearly the distorted reality channels Assayas vibes.

I thought that since "Witcher 3" is remastered it will be a bit more polished but both performance and ray tracing modes are choppy as fuck. Performance mode lighting is all over the place, and cut screens still tend to have that odd delay between takes. I think it will take more patches.

It is a pity as I wanted to finally play the game as it is finished (same reason I did not play "Cyberpunk 2077" beside the prologue) but it looks it will take much more time in the oven. I would even go back to old build but now I can't even find DLC for the PS4 version on PS store.

HBO MAx finally has the new master of "Eyes Wide Shut" to stream. I am still waiting for European Blu-ray but it is a great option to check the new master out.

Arca set was fire. I did not had this much fun this year from any show (Basinski was a different more somber/melancholic type of fun). The absolute sonic obliteration served has impaired my hearing and healed my soul. Mika Levi felt a bit uneven and Kavari was good but I was too exhausted.

Also shout out to 2K88, the local hero who deserves all the attention he gets right now. Great set, immaculate atmosphere and great mashups. I almost cried at times.

I am not fan of digging up stuff that happened decade ago and act like people can't change and get better despite their prior sins (Catholicism did this to me) but I am a petty fuck so I enjoy to see a fall from grace of Jacob Geller, who was slightly not nice to me on twitter once.

This time Jacob I decided to click on that link for Kotaku article and not comment on fragments somone posted. I think you should be proud you stupid condescending fuck...

Watched the new "Resident Evil" and I was right - this could be called "Left 4 Dead" and it would feel as much accurate. Fun but way too semi-ironic in that cursed Joss Whedon way. Ending also feels completely abrupt and unsatisfactory. I get what it was supposed to be but it doesn't work for me.

the My 9 games trend reminded me I did this some time ago in similar fashion. I would probably swap now "Dark Souls" for "DOOM II" but such version of this list is still accurate.

I think maybe "Fallout 2" should make the list or "Ocarina of Time" or "Chrono Trigger" but I think with those 9 listed here I had to most fun and memorable experiences.

I had such even with games I did not play when I was younger like the "Aliens vs Predator 2000" on Steam. it is an amazing game that despite it being a bit dated the general feel of the gameplay and atmosphere is still immensely captivating.

But there are games from last two generations that I feel are amazing and near perfect like "Mario Kart 8", "Zelda: BotW", "Last Guardian" or "DOOM: Eternal" but I tend to wait and see if nostalgia for such game hit and therefore it will live in my memory the same way.

I know this was also about games that made you but I tend to downplay new games even if I like them very much. It was also easier to be impressed by games back when you were younger but also each time I return to old game I find a lot of magick in it even if it feels clunky.

Watched the new 4K scan of "Trainspotting" and while I think the cinema had its projector set to be a little to dim it looked good. I still have my reddish master on Blu-ray but the new one works quite well. As for the film itself I am not surprised they did heroin when smartphone weren't around.

But I have to say that for the depiction of addiction and general drug use it is the most accurate depition not due to technicalities but a general vibe. Films like "Requiem for a Dream" are just showing the ugly part so it feels like you have to be really stupid to try drugs on the first place.

The most famous lesbian bar on the internet reminded me of a queer fetish sex party in London that wanted to be so progressive that it became it own demise, because in the end it attracted people who wanted to argue about semantics and not fuck each other in the dark room.

I saw that Criterion has released blu-ray of "Godzilla vs Biollante" and got excited that it may indicate Heisei era film to get a new release but it looks like licensing hell is still a thing and only option are double packs released by Sony which are locked to region A and do not include all films

Started the 5th season of "The X-Files" and it kinda starts to mutete in tone a bit. I am not a fan of all that narrative deception in the first two episodes but other two episodes were pretty cool so it hard to complain for now. Also I see that this one is a bit shorter season for whatever reason.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised how "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2" looks in performance mode. I mostly do not care about 60fps unless this is a an action game and often performance modes look atrocious but here despite more aggressive pop up do to LoD and slight resolution drop it looks great.

I played for 100+ hours in Quality mode and I think I will switch now for a bit to see if the difference is and I already have a good idea how the game is supposed to look.

That is a bit of a difficult question as I did not had an easy access to video games when I was a kid but I think seeing "Wolfenstein 3D" for the first time on my uncle's PC and thinking I could play that all day was that moment.

Went yesterday to screening of "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" with live music performed. The band composed a soundtrack for the film that was a really working with the film tone and style. Pity someone who was responsible for the copy of the film itself decided to cut the aspect ratio to 16:9 😀

Last two weeks were filled with quite a lot of quality shows. Open Source Art Festival was really solid (Aho Ssan just destroys with the sounds he can create) and I am happy that I was able to go last Sunday to Opera Festival and see William Basinski live performing a very somber piece on a piano.

Had a surprise double feature on Friday as I went to "Rocky Horror Picture Show" which was a blast and a great way to refresh film which I saw 20+ years ago. Now I was able to actually catch the references to Ed Wood's work which back in highschool were completely foreign to me.

But after film ended me and my partner decided to travel to another city because there was a screening of "Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma" which was ok film but it felt like read through Letterboxd. Way too meta for its own good and not committing to the bit of 80's slasher in a compelling way

But if I had to choose empty aesthetic of "Maxxxine" or overboard intellectualism of "Camp Miasma" I prefer the latter. Even of any actual film is completely lost in the process.

I saw this take that Japan after Hiroshima and Nagasaki created bangers film more or less directly tackling the issue but USA hardly did any film about 9/11 that culturally significant. But that omits "Southland Tales" which I find the most significant film of the Bush-era psychosis.

OoT remake looks exactly like those cursed Unreal Engine fan demos. Zero art direction, everything look like a bootleg Chinese toy and of course ton of light effects just because they are available. I feel nothing for this. Even that "Panzer Dragoon" remake created more emotions in me.

Finished "The X-Files" season 4 and it is solid season but you can see towards the end that there is increase in narrative trickery since just a mystery of a monster in the lake or in the forest is not enough. It is kinda annoying and I never was a fan of such solutions but that what TV is like.

Returned to "Stalker 2" and it is pretty insane how frail my character still is. I recently wanted to fight with some ghost-wolfs and they just killed me in to bites. Will return to it later but now I am stuck in electric anomaly and it was easier to get it than to get out. Zone is not for the weak.

I maybe stupid but I bought the preorder for physical release of "Dread Delusion" which I already bought twice (Steam and PS5) but the game is really great and it would be nice to have a physical version in collection.

Preorder done. Played demo on SteamDeck and this is game channels "Ikaruga" sequel vibes like nothing else.

I played "Crimson Desert" for a brief moment and I feel like I should start playing "Witcher 3" instead. It just so much shit it this game that it feels way too overwhelming for me at this point but if I was unemployed that would hit like crack.

I love how true crime culture has rotted everyone's brains to search for conspiracies and plot twists instead of accepting the fact that children will literally destroy your life. But I have to say Dahmer will feel like nothing when this case will be made into a tv series.

Start of September is always moment I feel immense saddness. Late summer is my favourite moment of the year as there is melancholy to it the same way as watching a beautiful sunset. The fleeting moment in time you want to keep for eternity. Pity this year summer was cold so no chance for that.
