Mabʻs Drawlloween Club | Day 2 Aloha kakahiaka! I finished my post early today! This is for Mabʻs Drawlloween Club Day 2 - Vampire.... https://mosslike.com/2026/10/02/drawlloween-mdwc26d2-vampira/

mosslike.comMabʻs Drawlloween Club | Day 2Aloha kakahiaka! I finished my post early today! This is for Mabʻs Drawlloween Club Day 2 - Vampire. And duh, itʻs VAMPIRA 🖤 It was so quick because I made this drawing in ProCreate. So fast and easy! Iʻll be switching prompt lists as always this season! In hopes that Iʻll pick up a habit that can last all year I feel like this image would make a great sticker. Which colorway do you prefer?

Adding some cute ʻōhiʻa lehua to my new denim jacket. Not quite complete yet. Will add leaves and pollen. Also planning to add some ʻalalā (native Hawaiian crows) later. 😀 Got excited, had to post 😀 #Embroidery #FiberArts #TextileArt #EmbroideryArt

Here are paintings I made at this past weekend's Mod Gala event at Capitol Modern. It was a fundraiser, so the paintings and their proceeds were donated back to the museum and it's efforts. "Moon Maiden" #art #painting #celestial #surrealism #moon #stars #traditionalart #artistonbluesky

Just saw the trailer for the new Street Fighter #movie the cast looks fun!! I went to go see who plays Vega, you know, under the mask. Cuz I love Vega. And it’s some dude that always wears a mask anyways. That’s hilarious. Again, great character casting for this. #streetfighter #orvillepeck

Made this portrait from an online reference found on the Museum app. Painted in a bright red ‘Ugly Book’. I used acrylic paints and my brand new ‘Trekell’ brushes. They’re so good - this is probably the first time I’ve treated myself to fancy (quality) brushes. #painting #portrait #art

Trying out ideas in my sketchbook, and on recycled wood panels (read: old art pieces I don’t want to look at anymore, covered in gesso.) #painting #acrylicpainting #art #moon #stars

Here is another tree painting in my sketchbook. These Monkeypods live at the neighborhood park. I painted these while trying to use a monochromatic theme of greens on this bright chartreuse. But, one of my brushes was dirty, so there’s some ochre in there too. #painting #trees #green #sketchbook

This is pure magic. Volume up. HPPA's Keith walked out along the #HosmerGrove road at #HaleakalāNationalPark while water was running along the road after the big storms. And also: an endemic ʻiʻiwi was feeding in the mamane bushes. This bird is a Life Lister for many. But ahhhh, that running water.

Here is a new art print I made! The flower is Pua Kala, or Hawaiian Poppy. Mildly toxic, and not containing morphine or codeine. It has prickly leaves, hence it's translated name Thorny Flower. It's delicate flowers veil how rugged and tough this wildflower is. 🖤 #flowers #art #botanical

Hi guys! I made a new art in my sketchbook! I'm calling it Eternal Bloom, and it's a human skull with orchids on a tree stump. From death comes life, re-generation, re-incarnation, re-purpose, stuff like that. #art #orchids #skull #mementomori #floralskull 🎨🖼🌱🌿🌼

Here's a part of my process. I lined this sketch with my LAMY #fountainpen and some Noodler's Bulletproof Black ink. The next step would be the gouache painting, adding the colors. Oh, and the sketchbook is a bright yellow paged Ugly Book . These pages hold up to ink and paints pretty well.

Last steps were scanning & cleaning up the edges so I can make it available on stuff like stickers, shirts & cards. If you're into RedBubble, the design is now available there. I'll be adding some items to my website as well. Links in my bio! Thanks for looking and reading! 🖤

I drew Hapu'u Ferns for Inktober day 8. Using Laulima Hawaii's prompt list. #inktober #ink #art #drawing #illustration #fountainpenart #hapuu #hawaiianplants #fern

mosslike.comInk drawing of Hapu’u Fern for Inktober Laulima styleI drew Hapu'u Ferns for Inktober day 8. Using Laulima Hawaii's prompt list. I only drew the leaves here in this piece, so you can't really tell what a large fern Hapu'u is. These fern trees can grow up to 30 ft tall! From my memory, they are also very hairy plants. The fronds are covered in what looks like orangutan fur.

I drew a Brittle Star for Inktober day 7. The prompt is STARFISH @inktober #inktober #inktober2025STARFISH #ink #art #drawing #painting #illustration #fountainpenart #starfish #oceanlife

mosslike.comInktober day 7: STARFISH | Brittle Star ink drawingsI drew a Brittle Star for Inktober day 7. The prompt is STARFISH. I remember seeing Brittle Stars a lot when I was younger. Not just at the aquarium field trips, but also at the tidepools at the beach. At a Drink and Draw evening with my buddies a few month's back, I drew another of these guys. I used my LAMY Safari pen with Noodler's Bulletproof Black.

Deer in the Moonlights @inktober #inktober #inktober2025DEER #Inktober2025 #ink #drawing #art

mosslike.comDeer in the Moonlights – Ink Wash drawing with digital highlightsUsing the official Inktober prompt list: This art is for day 5 - DEER. When I first started to brainstorm for "Deer", the first images that came to mind were the fire scene in Bambi. Those scenes were animated so beautifully. I also looked at a lot of Amy Sol's art. Wanting to keep a spooky, inky feel, I began this Deer piece in the same way I did the Inky Swamp.

Pua Kala - an endemic Hawaiian flower #flowers #art #ink #botanical

mosslike.comInk wash drawing of endemic Hawaiian flower Pua KalaI hadn't known of the Pua Kala (Argemone glauca) before. It also is called the Hawaiian Poppy. I think it's a really pretty & soft looking flower with some intimidating leaves. This drawing was for day 4 of an Inktober prompt list by Laulima Nature Center & Laulima Hawaii. My bestie gets me a gift from their brand every birthday and Christmas and I use them all often. I think this flower will pop up in my art again. I really like it.

mosslike.comInk sketches of Koa leaves for Inktober Day 1It's Inktober again! That means it's time for me to stress out over posting a drawing every day this month. I don't mind drawing every day - I LOVE that! It's the posting part that's annoying. I'm currently using a prompt list provided by Laulima Hawaii. Usually I try to stick to one major prompt list for the month. For example, my Spooky favorite, Mab's Drawlloween Club.

Another face in oil pastels #portrait #oilpastels #drawing 🎨

mosslike.comPastel Portrait PracticeIt's been a few days and I'm still playing with the oil pastels. Yes, they're crayola. I'm doing these after taking the kiddo to school and before I have to start working. Today, I used a reference from Pinterest. The proportions are wrong - it's a little long in the face. Still, it's a good looking face. This background color worked nicely with the colors I chose, so I like that too!
