My all white dogs got into the fallen tomatoes yesterday about 10 minutes after having a bath. Their feet are still orange

Important insight into why we got cooked so hard in 2024. This was Biden’s favorite pundit!

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

I mean the steam deck has sold about 1/3 as much as the Wii U, steam machine probably less than 10% so far. I doubt they’ve sold even 1 million

King V@mrsaver.bsky.social

The other thing with the steam machine is that it simply doesn’t sell console numbers or need to to be successful. It has sold around 1/3 as many units as the Wii U, for example.

Part of the reason so many people were charitable to the Steam Machine despite the price is they made the first mainstream non-Baby Computer console since like those Japanese PCs in the early 90s or the PS3 when you could install Linux and the government used them for military shit

The sequel a man made entirely from whiskey

‘Wicker’ stars Alexander Skarsgård as a man made entirely of wicker, complete with a rock-hard wicker dick. But what about splinters? Bacteria? Degradation? Would it be advisable, from a sexual-health perspective, to mount a basket dick? We asked a gynecologist: vulture.visitlink.me/DNQwX5

Money well-spent. Good job getting absolutely roasted for $250k

Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.

So I adopted a dog like 2 months ago (Dottie) after seeing her on Facebook and hearing she was one of 80 chiweenies rescued from a junkyard . Well 2 weeks ago they posted another one from the same junkyard, and I said I’d go look at him if he was still there when I came back from a trip

I said I want to suck my own cock and they made me the director of the CIA.

Somewhat unrelated but quality adjustment on consumer devices is largely a scam. And iPhone 18 provides equivalent utility to like an iPhone 4 in 2009. And iPhone4 today is a completely worthless paperweight.

Joey Politano🏳️‍🌈@josephpolitano.bsky.social

We're in totally unprecedented territory when it comes to computer prices; they're up a record 10% over the last year alone in data released this morning (and that's after adjusting for quality improvements, which usually are enough to drive steady *de*-flation)

But quality adjustment will tell you that the price of an iPhone is down 87% because it has more ram and a faster processor

I think this is true in the sense that when like BASIC came about it did 90% of what programmers did when they were coding in assembly (or whatever). Like yeah, it’s doing a lot of my coding, but way less than 90% and mostly just the volume of code I’m producing is higher.

mr. TIM@timkellogg.me

spoken less than 10 months ago was he right?

But I’m not as much more productive as the volume of code suggests because the AI sort of overcodes everything. Very verbose

Goddamn. Mean credit card debt up 5x

The new Survey of Consumer Finance is out! www.federalreserve.gov/publications... For Matt Darling aficionados: - Median household net worth is $215.9k (up 2% since 2022) - Median assets in transaction accounts is $8,200 (-6% since 2022) (Percent changes are in real (adj for inflation) terms.)

A lot of macro nerds need to understand that all the nowcast models suck and provide like almost no value. Let’s start with GDPnoW for Q326. Look at how this has played out? What actually information has this given you? It’s been telling you Q3 would be about 5% gdp growth since July!

What are the error bars on GDPNow? *shrug* it doesn’t have any. Are we going to hit 5? No. Will it drop more? Who the F knows? it’s not actually telling you anything at all except vibes.

This doesn’t mean the more regression based nowcast models are any better. Now let’s look at the NYFed Nowcast. This DOES have error bars. But look at them! As of right now, the model says there’s a 50% probability the GDP Advance estimate between like 1.2% and 4.0%. Very fucking useful lol

Fml. That’s NOT how it was supposed work Mr President.

From what I see in my neighborhood, the complaints are not really about “e-bikes” but “electric motorcycles” that go like 40mph, and 13 year olds are riding them on major state roads. In our local law, e-bikes are in a category where they’re only powered while pedaling. It’s assistive.

mtsw@mtsw.bsky.social

It's fascinating to learn how many more kids die in ATV accidents every year than in e-bike accidents, then observing that there is a moral panic about kids riding e-bikes but not about kids riding ATVs.

What I see people actually complain about is dirt bikes powered by batteries. Considering I saw some kid eat shit into back of a neighbors truck trying to do a wheel and then drive away after leaving a big ass dent, uh, I get it.

GDP now is such a joke dude. It does this all the time…. Currently predicting that CIPI will add +1.9% to real GDP. That’s happened like 5x in the last 10 years. Over half of all gdp growth is just companies making stuff they don’t sell?!

It’s shocking how bad new outlook still is. My boss uses it and calls me over because he can’t figure out how to put in a hyperlink to a share drive. We try like 3 different things and none of them work. I noticed something looks weird and then go “Are you using the New Outlook? Try the old one”

Another interesting stat is that Ella Langley is not even in the top 100 most streamed artists on Spotify in the past month. Daddy Yankee is #30. She’s easily cleared by Pitbull (#17) Shaggy is nipping at her heels. I start running into artists who I can’t name a single song from around 20.

King V@mrsaver.bsky.social

I don’t think that’s really that weird. Ella Langley has slightly less monthly Spotify listeners as Nirvana. She has 1/3 the monthly listeners as Bad Bunny, who many Americans proudly claimed to have never heard of when he was the Super Bowl Halftime show.

"Well I don't have a TV or a radio so it's not surprising I haven't heard the song" You live in a bubble. What you're describing is a self-curated bubble. If you haven't heard the song that's been #1 on the charts for 23 weeks, you live in a bubble and you should probably be aware of that.

Not that I think that is happening here, but I think it’s worth considering that modern music is very fractured, and the current billboard charts reward narrow and deep listenership over broad and shallow…

I.e. a dedicated fan base that pays money and buys your tracks online will get you higher on the charts than a very broad listenership that is fully ad supported.

She has less than half the monthly listeners as Kendrick who I gurantee you my 70+ mother is not at all familiar with.

The way that the billboard charts are created, you could pretty much buy your way into the top 10 by buying 20k copies online of your single via bots in a month.

Damn, she really gets no respect.
