You know, I would cry real tears of happiness if Apple could release a major OS update that doesn't completely fuck up the Application Formerly Known as iTunes.

If you're a Deadhead (not a casual one, more of a this band consumes my entire soul one), you should really listen to the Good Ol' Grateful Deadcast. SOme great stuff on there.

You know, if there's one take away from the Summer Magic 1985 box set, it's that the Dead were right on the money when they dropped Day Job from the rotation.

I've had this rant percolating for a while, so here goes. Mrs. crabMOUTH and I just returned from a great trip in Vietnam and Cambodia. It was a river cruise on the Mekong, and we did pre- and post-excursions in Hanoi and Saigon.

Our hosts in these countries were so lovely and kind, and wanted nothing more than to open their hearts and homes to us, and all these people could do was fucking complain and act shitty.

I pray that, when I reach that age, I have the courtesy and wherewithal to not act like that, and the wisdom to be aware if I start to. It really put a damper on an otherwise magical experience.

Having loud conversations while the cruise manager was talking about the daily excursions and the history of the places we were visiting. They were shocked (SHOCKED!) that Hanoi, Phnom Penh and Saigon were "loud, dirty and poor."

We received a blessing from some monks at a monastery outside of Phnom Penh, and I had to shush people, twice, who were muttering to each other while the monks were chanting. Frankly, I was mortified. It's a huge deal to receive a blessing like that.

We skewed on the younger side of the cruisers, despite both being in our mid-50s. Basically, we were on the boat with a bunch of boomers. Everything you hear about these fuckers was evident, in abundance:

They were loud, they got in the way, they were clueless because they wouldn't pay attention to the guides and they were rude. They were rude to the staff on the boat, they were rude to the tour guides and they were rude to the locals. Some examples:

I just took the best shower I have ever taken in my life after wandering around Saigon in 86 degree heat and 95% humidity for several hours. We head home to Vermont tomorrow, and while I have had the time of my life, I look forward to fall weather and my own bed.
