I'm Maxwell Shepherd. I write horror, comedy, and splatter. J'accuse (1919) includes a haunting sequence of the "walking dead" returning home after WWI. The Black Cat (1934) starring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi focuses on two men twisted by war and the deadly games they play. #HorrorWritersChat

And there you are again. With a blink, flames scythe across the copse, now a deep trench. Explosions rattle your skull, blurring your vision. Your hand is heavy. With his head. Again. Tell us who you are, what do you write, and what is your favourite depiction of war in horror? #HorrorWritersChat

A central, tacit, tenet of American culture is that men (especially white men, and especially rich white men) should be allowed to abuse women and children. The patriarchal establishment does not want sexual abuse to be legislated, they want it to come down to the individual man's judgement.

They feel like keeping this threat of sexual abuse alive gives them power even if they don't directly partake. It keeps them at the top of the hierarchy. Throughout the history of western culture there has been an idea that crimes are only crimes when they are done to men.

Paramount gaining a monopoly on the entertainment industry isn't just bad because monopolies are bad but because Paramount is actively regressive, racist and misogynistic. They're trying to revive the careers of folks like Johnny Depp, Jonathan Majors and others who have rightfully been ostracized.

The way the Cornell victim is being publicly disbelieved by a lot of journalists, officials, and online posters is also a warning shot to every other victim not to dare to actually pursue a case against your rapist lest you suffer the same fate. It’s a means of protecting the status quo

I know bears look scary so I understand why they make horror films about them, but in real life, much like dolphins, bears have helped more people than they have harmed, routinely leading lost hikers back to civilization. #Frightclub

Bears are basically kind animals. I don't think a bear has ever hurt a human being in real life. 100% of bear attacks are cases of mistaken identity where the victim only thought their attack was a bear when in reality it was a domestic dog or cow #Frightclub

Remote control chickens were a fad from 79-81. After that they died down and analog chickens were restored to their rightful place. Not course this was way before wi-fi nuggets. #FrightClub
