Furniture in my office had been moved around when I came in this morning. Either the HVAC guys were in my ceiling after hours or we have a Law School Poltergeist. I'm going to consider both options equally likely until I receive more information.

I would love to hear from tenured law faculty on the following questions: How did you approach your scholarship after tenure? Did your approach change? How? Why?

The latest Noah Feldman cell-phone video entry is a two-minute, unnaturally high-speed discussion of Justice Thomas. The video is shot in 10-second segments, though the narrative is continuous. Feldman seems to be after a "walking and talking" format, but he begins every segment at a dead stop.

The “it’s in the syllabus” paradigm is a distant utopian past. Modern syllabi are 20 pages of institutionally mandated learning objectives and resource directories with the readings and assignment sequences hidden among the dense foliage of boilerplate.

Discovering that I can spend most of the day writing about originalism and right when I'm about to throw my computer through the window I can go outside for a swim. Perhaps my earlier post was a bit hasty.

It got quiet in the room just before a faculty meeting began this afternoon and I think most (all?) of my colleagues overheard the end of a conversation when I mentioned that I want to write an article where every cite begins with "but see."

There should be a rare, happy German word for listening to a mediocre album that you bought for pennies and stumbling across a song that's way too good to be on it.
