I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I noticed a shift in my face drawing after I got into doing portraits. I think learning how an actual human face is put together helped when it came to drawing cartoon characters.

...and not every person has to be drawn "perfectly". Following the rules all the time and drawing everyone with the same level of conventional cartoon attractiveness is how we have AI Slop faces.

The reason this stuff annoys me is because maybe people wouldn't quit art and resort to making AI slop if they didn't have a bunch of clout chasing, Follower Obsessed ArtTubers making them think that the only way to enjoy making art is to draw like Kim Jung Gi or some other UberKorean 24/7.

Every so often I see some Artist YouTuber (who are almost always fountains of bad/impractical advice) be like "WATCH HOW WITH A FEW TRICKS I WAS ABLE TO TURN MY ART FROM THIS *a picture that looks fun and original* TO THIS *a picture that looks like they copy/pasted Kim Jung Gi*"

If someone's only qualification is "They have 100K followers on Twitter" but their art clearly sucks, or is basic AF, then all they've done is learn how to pander to the algorithm or kiss the right asses. It doesn't make them worth studying Likes =/= Quality Study ACTUAL masters.

If you see some ArtTuber under the age of 30 giving advice, who has no noteworthy professional experience, and if they're offering "quick fixes/hacks" (likely overly obsessed with Kim Jong Gi and drawing boxes): Do not spend 1000s of dollars paying for their courses. They're Snake Oil Salesmen.

I think a (potentially) interesting thing they could do in a Fromsoft game is to have a weapon that makes it so any enemies killed by it won't respawn. Lore wise it could be akin to Sekiro's "Mortal Blade" in how it "severs immortality". There would need to be some sorta balancing with it it though.

A weapon like that could potentially backfire though. Like some enemies you NEED to respawn, for farming and such. Maybe every time you do it you get "cursed" and that does...something? I dunno, just spit balling.

Padme WIP (a sketch for an upcoming commission) I have trouble painting landscapes...rocks/mountains in particular, so wish me luck 😑 But I like painting snow! So maybe it will balance out.

"In the original series your last name is Soryu. In the rebuild it's Shikinami. Both are named after Japanese ships that were sunk in combat. Perhaps in the third reboot your name could be Asuka Executor Langley, after Darth Vader's infamous Star Destroyer." "Shut up."

I know she wasn't made to scale with Classified Series GI Joes, but she still is a little taller than I'd like. She's only 4'11" in the show (she's actually the tallest of the Eva pilots LULZ Shinji sucks)

One of these days I may write something about why tracing/copying reference isn't so much "bad" as it is "unhelpful" for anything other than realism or studies. I don't think it hurts someone's art, necessarily, it just doesn't help in the way that someone might think it would. It holds things back.

In this age of Algorithm Slop where artists are encouraged to pump out content to compete with each other and with AI (which is a pointless and unwinnable game), tracing/copying is tempting as a short cut. It SEEMS like it would save time, but if you wanna make good art it actually makes it harder.
