Since the nation is waking up this morning to be reminded about what an absolute shill of an idiot Missouri's junior Sen. Eric Schmitt is, I went searching for one of his more egregious campaign ads. Found his current YouTube page instead. The total views warmed my bitter, cold heart.

Facts. Don't believe the MO Chamber of Commerce which is 100% asking voters to vote AGAINST our own interests. The Missouri Legislature often passes bills that are either near unanimous or highly bipartisan. In any case, anyone telling you to vote against 6 is cynical and (probably) lying.

Respect MO Voters@respectmovoters.org

🧵The 80% Threshold is Possible, and Bipartisan 🧵 Missouri politicians pass bills with 80%+ majorities every year. What they can't do under Amendment 6 is overturn voter-passed laws on a partisan whim.

There are accounts on Threads reporting that voting machines are defaulting to GOP candidates in "many" states. A lot of those claims are from (apparently) 2018. In any case, if you're that concerned? Request a paper ballot.

Go see You Can See Everything before the internet spoils it for you. It's the most "on-time" movie of 2026. It brings the audience to the intersection of big tech and filmmaking like nothing I've ever seen. It's complex, funny, disturbing, and deeply entertaining. GO.

The amount of serious people on LinkedIn who are reinforcing the hype about Elon's flying cars is making me question every decision I've ever made in my life. Maybe I should have become a renunciate monk and opted for one of those caves and a life of quiet contemplation.

A reminder that ignoring and delegitimizing the ICC has been the GOP brand for over a half a century. I wish it were new and I wish it would stop after Trump. It won't.

Anyone else have tickets for You Can See Everything this weekend? I can't remember the last time I ran out to see a movie (a doc no less) opening weekend. I feel like this is the Boyhood of 2026 (in that, it's so indescribable, I want to see it before someone describes--and ruins it--for me).

With the inflation numbers out, today would be a very, very good day to make a donation to a Democrat in a tight statewide, Congressional, or State Rep/Senate race. That money will go directly to ads pummeling the GOP for making the thing they said they would fix worse.

There is a difference between someone who doesn't know what he's saying vs. someone who thinks he can get away with saying anything.

Progressive Missourians: IDC where you live in the state, if you refuse to vote for any democrat (Bell included, it is what it is, we'll get him soon) or refuse to vote out of "protest" this November, please do me a favor and fuck off forever. Thanks.

If you live in a state with 2 GOP senators, a reminder that yours are just as cynical (and maybe as stupid) as Eric Schmitt. Seeing a lot of "Missouri voters are stupid," and (A) not all of us voted for that fucking asshole and (B) you have **the same** dumb voters. Schmitt didn't win in a vacuum.

Re: Warner Bros/Paramount: Be more mad at the failures to regulate at the Federal level than you are at Rob Bonta. There's only so much you can do as the only adult in the room when we have no fucking federal law enforcement in place. This isn't like AGs suing to protect the ACA.

I have known him personally for quite some time. He ran for Senate in 2022 (and lost to the hum drum rich heiress who shall not be mentioned). He's massively intelligent, thoughtful and committed to serve the people of his community and our state. Donate here: ---> www.jewelkelly.com

This WHOOOOOLLLLLE thread. I second all of it, esp. the Dore analogy and the Chorus bullshit which I'm still questioning why Wired published). She's an online personality who suffers the same pathological fame addiction as anyone. She shouldn't be trusted, quoted, or shared. Bye, girl.

I am *genuinely* saddened that more people aren't helping this story trend online. The amount of work that goes into sourcing stories like this is astonishing. Please care as much about this as you do the guy who got kicked off the tour. Yes, they're related. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

theguardian.comTrump ally Stephen Miller leads sweeping push to accelerate removal of migrant childrenExclusive: key White House loyalist orchestrating multi-agency effort condemned by critics as cruel and racist

No shade but do we really have to care what Bill Maher says or does anymore? His biggest enemy is his failing relevance and he knows it. He's always been a problematic, third rail, contrarian asshole. It just used to be less obvious.

The Tennessee Holler @thetnholler.bsky.social

Seems worth pointing out it isn’t just @CNN that won’t have @hasanthehun on — @billmaher hasn’t had him on either 🤔 “Bob Kraft is my friend” Maher has had Bannon… Coulter… Vance… on and on… but he won’t talk to Hasan? Why, because he’s too outspoken about Israel?

From the not-that-long ago era of 2017, aka his first term when he did this, too. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017...

Trump says he's banning CNN, MSNow & Politico from the White House. If he goes through w/ this, the WH press corps needs to boycott. Fox too No more of the correspondents association's white-tablecloth, gladhanding bullshit. Pentagon reporters showed they don't need in-house access. You can too.

Never, ever underestimate the impact of discovery. Lawsuits are deeply important in that they can uncover documents during the discovery phase that are damning and can be referenced and used in future claims. We owe the NYT a lot for sticking its neck out for this.

Clara Jeffery@clarajeffery.bsky.social

This has come out thanks to the suit the NYT and other news orgs—including us—have filed against OpenAI.

And I would still like those alarms to be taken seriously and for the people ringing them to testify in front of Congress, treated as whistleblowers replete with documentation, patterns of fact, and credible evidence.

No matter what side of what perspective you happen to share here's what we need to do: Congressional testimony with documentation. You say you're a whistleblower? Do a Frances Haugen. Bring those receipts to DC and share them with the public.

Tom Coates@tomcoates.bsky.social

Okay, quick post on AI apocalypse conversations. I see one group of people talking about how the “Doomers” are talking about sentient computers who decide spontaneously to destroy all humans by programming machines to produce bioweapons or to take hold of killing robots through spite.

Does anyone in St. Louis want to seriously tell me again that the progressive movement doesn't exist here anymore? This is what happens when you HAVE progressives running your city.

I genuinely would like to travel to a parallel universe where I could see the media's response if Joseph Robinette Biden or Barack Hussein Obama made up a fucking easily verifiable lie of being "rescued" on 9/11.

I'm so deeply disappointed that with so much on the line in Missouri that national news outlets still haven't developed relationships with local sources here yet. I know there have been a lot of cuts, but this is national politics and MO kicked off this process. Do better. Honestly.

Simon FTW.

David Simon@audacityofdespair.bsky.social

Fair. At this point I can't remember if I was half-dressed, coffee going cold in front of me, while I stared at a TV screen in front of me in horror, or if I was in downtown Manhattan trying to help people but instead being pulled from rubble by two brave, burly NY firefighters. One of the two.

Congress should pass a law (amending the ACA) requiring all Marketplace plans to cover the major national pharmacies: Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS (at a minimum). ACA plans often change annually. I'm deeply sick of switching back and forth between one pharmacy to the other.

Today: I'm waiting for a Paxlovid prescription to deal with a positive COVID test. The co-pay is $1,800 w/out insurance because my doctor (who simply tried to comply quickly) sent it to the pharmacy I had to use in 2025. This is dumb and avoidable. It's also a waste of everyone's time.

You know who can afford to waste time? Insurance companies with a massive infrastructure of claims processors. We live in *their* world. I won't even get into the blindingly high cost of a 5-day prescription (that's another post). This is an easy fix. Just make it already.

Sometimes (okay most times) I want to tell every single voter who sent Denny Hoskins to Jeff City as Missouri's Secretary of State to go fuck themselves. Today is one of those days.

A rare STL/LA crossover moment for me (I lived in LA for 20 years; I'm originally from St. Louis and live here now) from the STL Daily Newsletter. This genuinely made me snort laugh (the Angels are in Anaheim, which is something like 70-ish miles south of Los Angeles).

Just a reminder that if you walk up to a normal (ish) person and say the words "Taylor Lorenz is a crazy person and says some really batshit stuff to bully and ruin people's lives," the response 99.9% of the time will be: "Who the fuck is that?" Normies don't care, Fam.

I don't take issue w/what Piker says. Good 4 u, bro (srsly!). In reality, he's just another celebrity who's very good at dominating the news cycle because, yeah, that's what celebrities do. For him, attention=money. The moment the attention stops (not that it should!) the $ stops along with it.

There are way, way, waaayyyy to many too-online lefties who genuinely have no fucking idea what the role of the House Minority leader does, the difference between that role and the whips AND the job of speaker. Honestly, it's embarrassing. Do your homework.
