Sinclair Research would like to clarify that the ZX Spectrum is not a toy. It is a serious business computer that happens to be the same size as a paperback novel, costs less than a bicycle, and is used almost exclusively by children to play Horace Goes Skiing.

I’ve always found it strange that companies like HP and Canon didn’t get into 3D printing. Almost as if the printers were just commodity hardware to them, zero cost to build, zero cost to design, and they made all their profits elsewhere.

Well after ruminating about it all weekend I managed to say at work that a part of the job I had been given, I really didn’t want and would they please put someone else (in charge). Probably killed my career, but swings and roundabouts, you know

A couple of days ago I gave a copy of this book to a friend who was leaving my $(dayjob) The next day she said she’d spent half the night looking for cats If you can, please support this artist. Her whimsical work brings so much joy

MY BOOK IS AVAILABLE! 📖🥷🐈‍⬛️ Can you spot the Cat? Vol. 1 is back in stock ! And this time, there are 4 prints to choose from for the "Book + print bundles" Thank you so much for waiting, and good luck spotting the Cat ! ko-fi.com/lkcreations/...

There are only three things that prevented me buying the 115 inch tv I saw at Costco this morning One. It would never fit in the car Two. I don’t have a 115 inch WALL Three. I don’t have the six grand That was a close call, nonetheless

Pulling a calf muscle at the start of THE day when I will probably walk the most in the year 0/10. Do not recommend

I'm reasonably certain this is a metaphor for something else, but I can't put my finger on it. But just in case, I'm going to have ad-free salad tonight.

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

Restaurants shouldn’t be allowed to play music while I’m eating Prince will be living rent free in my head now for the next couple of days

Today was not a total waste. I introduced a (French) friend to “Carrot in a box” He agreed the French could never make something so funny from such a simple concept

Went to a game shop. In the “retro” cabinet (under lock and key because of the sheer value) were Xbox 360 games #sigh

Just about everything you can find at Lidl you can find elsewhere for more money for the same quality Except digestives. Sorry Lidl, but you are not McVitie’s

I have an exceedingly skittish rescue cat, and am genuinely over the moon that she finally is comfortable enough with me to lie down on my chest when I go to bed With one small remark. If she could stop sitting on my face at 3am that would be great. Kthxbai

Recover two yaml files, from inside a docker image, on a failing nvme m.2 drive, formatted to ext4, via a USB enclosure with a flaky connector, in windows How’s your Tuesday going?

What’s great about Slashdot is that you can pop over every, say, ten years or so, and the “SCO vs IBM” story will still be on the front page

Well. Looks like I’m older today than yesterday But symmetrically older. With 2000 as the pivot, which is pleasing in its own way

So I managed to write some C, in lambda functions in ESPHome, to display a graph of battery SoC over the last 12 hours, and have it displayed on a CYD Not a bad end to the week

Today I learned that there is a fly called the Manx Robber Fly. Today is a good day, for I have increased my (mostly useless) knowledge

Nothing screams "trustworthy website/app/product" quite like an ad posted by X, talking about Y, linking to Z. "Hi, I'm SAM, and I just opened 'Bob's best grill'. Have a look now, just go to tom.com" FFS

It really isn’t pretty code but… Wanted my esp32 to take a picture every hour but only between 10am and 4pm. So I check the current hour and if it is above 15, sleep for 19 hours. Else sleep for an hour Am I proud? No But does it work? Yes Is it idiot-proof? Enough for my use-case

I was - for a second - all excited it’s nearly the weekend. Then it dawned on me I was eating Monday lunch…

I seem to have managed to get the bed mesh on the 3d printer to within 0.2 of a millimetre to level. Someone please clap

Big update to my #homeassistant setup. I treated it to a brand spanking new Raspberry Pi 5 with 4g of ram and an m.2 nvme drive Only seems fair, given everything HA is in charge of around here, from the solar, to the heating, to the car, hot water and everything in between

D’you think it would be possible, listening to the news on a UK radio, for it not to start, say, just once a week with “Donald Trump…”

It’s too hot to do the garden (and frankly I can’t be arsed), but I did put in two lights in the bathroom Swings and roundabouts

VOYAGER'S LIGHT DAY! 11.18.26! Mark your calendars! NASA reports on November 18, 2026, at 2:16:07 a.m. PST a radio command leaving Earth will need 24 hours to reach Voyager One. If she is able to send one, it will take another day to come home. She will officially be a whole day of light away!

Occasionally I attempt to do something intelligent on my hols. Not often, but sometimes So yesterday I took the boy to see Charles

Thirteen years ago (I know exactly - it was a week before my son was born), my SAP HANA book was published. It is now hopelessly out of date I just got a royalties statement
