"D1_D3 ..." are my and Commissioner Brim-Edwards' 9 amendments to get Multnomah County to a fair Moda Center deal. Read them here: multnomah.granicus.com/GeneratedAge... #MultCoD1 #Blazers #ModaCenter

Unlike the City or State, MultCo receives no revenue from the Moda Center. I have an amendment to fix that(#2), asking for a payment in lieu of tax (PILOT) in return for a Moda contribution. #MultCoD1 #ModaCenter

Moda Funding Should Not Result in Service Cuts: The County is facing $60m in cuts over the next 3 years. The “Chair’s Proposal” spends $35m on Moda, requiring cuts to essential services like SUN Schools and eviction prevention.

Myself and Commissioner Brim-Edwards’ 9 amendments aim to right size the Moda deal. I want the Blazers to stay in Portland. I also want the County to continue providing services to residents who live here. My amendments work to strike that balance.

Right Sizing the Deal for the County: Unlike the City or the State, the County does not own or receive money from the Moda Center The City’s budget is double the County’s budget, but the “Chair’s Proposal” obligates $125m of County funds to the renovation, compared to the City’s proposal of $120m

July 23rd at 11am is the 1st meeting that the County is collecting public input on the Moda Center deal. I want to hear from you, so please submit testimony. And I want to share with you how I am thinking about this Moda deal.

The amendments: 1) Saves up to $36.6m to fund County operations instead of giving it to the #Blazers, so that we can continue providing key services like SUN Schools and eviction prevention. next amendment on next post ⬇️⬇️

Commissioner - could you explain in plain language what the amendments are asking for? I'm curious if the amendments would reduce the overall funding for the renovation package, or shift some of the money to the city?

2) Under the current framework, the County will issue debt to give $53m to the Blazers upfront. My 2nd amendment requires the Blazers to cover the annual cost of the debt AND requires the Blazers to pay funds to school districts in MultCo.

The Pride celebration welcomes all members of the queer community and allies. The celebration is in the back of the Board Room at the Multnomah Building and will have music, art by queer Multnomah County employees, and delicious food. I hope to see you there!

Yesterday, Multnomah County's budget passed with my amendment to fully restore all funding to SUN Schools. With families impacted by ICE, inflation, and reduced protections by the Trump admin, it is crucial we continue to provide services like SUN to support those in our community most impacted.

July is Disability Pride Month, and I am bringing forward 2 new policies to improve disability accessibility that go into effect July 1st: 1) Fund the development of ADA ramps and 2) Standardize County ADA policies and align them with federal requirements. #DisabilityPrideMonth #MultCoD1

Drop by and get to know the service providers working in our community. It’s a simple, friendly way to learn about the various MultCo resources you can access throughout the year. #MultCoD1 When: May 21, 12-4:30 Where: DHS Training and Conference Center, 11826 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97220

This #MayDay, I marched alongside workers for a future where honest work guarantees a good life — that's the future I'm committed to building as your County Commissioner. #MultCoD1

Today begins Multnomah County's #Affordability Agenda. I am proud to lead this work and look forward to bringing forward policies that increase affordability and drive the economy. #MultCoD1

It is my sincere apology that those who live close to the ICE facility, including veterans and seniors, have been forced to endure the harm caused by the federal government's excessive and atrocious use of chemical munitions. #MultCoD1

Delighted to share our revised paper (w/ @juliaturner.bsky.social & @jacobbastian.bsky.social ) showing that Universal Pre-K has broad effects on local labor markets — effects well beyond only mothers. Larger effects for full-day programs. nber.org/papers/w33767 #EconSky #EarlyChildhood #ECE
