Pray for us all. Monday’s regularly scheduled programming was paused to see Ken Russell’s “The Devils”, and my soul was delivered. ~Drawing included as an unholy offering to the Gods of cinema.

So behind with the Spooktober drawing challenge, but in my defense I’m getting over a stupid head cold. Here’s #mushroom for #mdwc26d6 A creepy-cute trio🎃

Combining the Owl and Mythological prompts for this drawing of La Lechuza. In some myths she’s an owl witch with shape shifting powers, in other stories a vengeful lady phantom seeking revenge. #mdwc26d4 #mdwc26d5

It seems there isn’t an official term for a group of ghosts, but I did find terms like “a haunting” or “a fraid”. I’m going to call this sketch “A Babble of Boos”.

Had the immense luck to attend a curator led tour of the Tarot exhibit at The Morgan Library & Musem. Highly recommend seeing this one if you can! 1. Visconti Deck attributed to the workshop of Bonifacio Bemba 2. Tarocchi 3. Lady Frieda Harris 4. Leonora Carrington

Weekend doings: watched “Whistle and I’ll Come to You” from 1968, based on a M. R. James ghost story. Reading “Orchard of the Dead” by Stefan Grabinski. Also, listening to Book Club Radio dance mix at a vampire party by Tinzo. ~vampire drawing from my sketchbook

Sketch inspired by Odilon Redon’s “Everywhere eyeballs are aflame”. Also, picked up the “Otherwordly Visions” that accompanies the current Odilon Redon’s exhibit at the Getty Museum. Sadly, no art travels are currently in my future, but an excellent excuse to purchase this book!

Such a lovely pairing, thanks to @mlleghoul.bsky.social for sharing and including my art in her latest book!🖤

Next in my series of pairing my fragrances with works from my new book, The Art of the Unknown, is Fleur Cachée by Anatole Lebreton, paired with one of my favorite spectral visions from Becky Munich Here is what I wrote about the perfume a few years back…

In a month’s time,The Art of the Unknown will be out into the world! Here’s some early praise from some kind, brilliant souls who dwelled for a while in its pages and came back with some blurb-shaped thoughts! Thanks very much to @libraryatnight.bsky.social for reading and sharing your thoughts!

I would love to live inside one of those Spooky Town miniature buildings sold at Michael’s, have it recreated on a parcel of land and haunt it the rest of my days. #sketchbook

Medieval Beastie🖤 ~Dealing with sinusitis/bronchitis combo right now, but drawing the textures and details seems to really relax my coughing. Feeling sick during summer feels extra yuck, but I can see the light at the end of the phlegm tunnel. #sketchbookart

For me the Summer Solstice means a recharge time before Fall. Gathering my thoughts and inspirations, and truth be told I much prefer the growing night and colder temps to come.

Every couple of months I wake from a nightmare feeling electrical snaps all over my body. Aggressive tingles of fear and danger. Whatever darkscape I just woke from starts to quickly fade. All I can recall were these gray lumpy Boschian terrors popping from portals everywhere.

NY friends go check out Shape of Dreams, an exhibition of sculptures by Leonora Carrington at L’SPACE gallery. They also show her tarot cards, beautiful work!🖤

Good evening, do you like gothy grave robbers, metal as-fuck bards, and witches with extra fingers?

Good morning, bsky! My novel, Ornamental Women, is out now, and I made a blog post about it. Intrigued by the idea of dark Gothic fantasy? Want to read the first three chapters for free? Well then... talesofthegrotesqueanddungeonesque.blogspot.com/2026/05/orna...

Sketch inspired by my recent read of “Caesaria” by Hanna Nordenhök. A gothic novel with beautifully written dread and unease. You know it’s going to have a depressing end, but you can’t stop reading.

Slowly adding to my “Enchanted World” library. As a kid I was obsessed with the commercial for this series! I wished I had grown-up money to buy them and now I do🖤📚

Costumed sketch night at Society of illustrators with the fantastic @fitartmodel bringing the poses and props! So appreciative of the creative time to take a mental break from the insanity going on.
