All the school! No time for online! One last paper, then midterms! Why do I love this so much?

#booksky #cats #catloaf The study cat who does NOT sit on my book or notes or my arms.

I collect what I think of as "odd" books (I did this more back in the day when Barnes & Noble was just a catalogue full of obscure books). Some become references for writing. Some cause bookshelf whiplash. This is much dryer than the title suggests, but interesting. #Booksky

Recent Re-reads Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie -- did the audiobook version this time, and I liked it just as much. Better the second time, too. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley -- third read. Better with annotations. #Booksky

Recent Reading The Salvage Crew by Yudhanjaya Wijeratne AI, first contact, and poetry -- Tennyson, in particular, both poems included in the book also being in my assigned reading. Made both things better. #Booksky

Well, after 2 weeks of too much snow, too much illness, assorted anxieties, and a birthday, I'm finally posting my birthday book haul pic. #booksky

#booksky I keep having the thought that, this summer, I should pull out some of my dusty MMS and do some editing and rewriting, and then attempt to publish...if I don't stress out and hide under the bed again. It IS a conundrum.

Question for the writerly. In 2015 I wrote an SF novel. I spent the time and money to work with editors on it. Mental Health stopped me at initial queries to publish . I still love it, although it needs updating. I need...something...to help me push through. Suggestions? #Booksky

I spent today with (yet another) reread/relisten of a favorite, Georgette Heyer's "The Masqueraders". A touch of historic romance, a twisty adventure, a few swordfights, a little humor, all done with a light touch. #Booksky

I like books about words. This semester I'm taking a class on linguistics and grammar, which I'm warned is a brain-breaker. But I like the topic, and I've taken advantage of some lecture courses and my own little collection of books. Here's one that I wish would show up in class. #Booksky

I have a "thing" for classic book mashups. Most are, frankly, GARBAGE, done without thought to the original material, with juvenile humor and pandering. This, though, was a happy exception. In fact, this one was nearly perfect. www.librarything.com/work/9564128... #Booksky
