so last week I was jogging... (When did I start jogging?... a mix of a frustrating day at work that literally saw my blood pressure spike, and the realization that with fascism on the rise, if i can’t fight I better be able to run)... and it finally happened. The #crows came along! 🪶🧵

#Borbs is today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme. Alternative is #Brown. I think I’ve got them covered here. Although I can’t find the Red Wing blackbird that I got the spring all puffed up in pride #birdphotography #ECK #birds #photography #birdsofbluesky #naturephotography #forestfriday

Universities: Wow, students are really struggling with isolation and mental health these days for some reason. Students, please don't be alone! Also universities: Here's a new AI "study buddy"! Now you don't have to connect with others in your class. That shit's hard, so automate it.

An oldie but goody for today’s #BirdOfTheDay, which is #Paridae (the family of birds including chickadees and tits). I have to admit I’m sort of looking forward to winter because I don’t get moments like these in the summer months

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay is #ODG owls, ducks, or geese. I enjoy the challenge of catching wood ducks, which are usually wary of humans, bc of our propensity to shoot them. But these, at the Jardins Botanique, didn’t seem to have a care in the world. #birds #photography #naturephotography

With new condos (not affordable housing), being built close to the river, it’s been quiet on the river. So it was nice to see one of my old friends dining yesterday. Though I was confused how the fish got from the water into their beak. #eastcoastkin #heron 🪶

I’m a sucker for Ardeidae on trees! Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Herons&Egrets; any Heron or Egret shot Alt. is #Borbs; any bird that looks round, chubby, spherical etc. 🪶

Been a few weeks since I’ve been out with my camera, but the last couple days have been picking up. Had been hoping for some baldys at sunset, but this close-up encounter of a red tailed hawk was certainly magic enough #EastCoastKin #birdphotography 🪶

Fear about can keep people from enjoying being out in the natural world. Here are some great prevention tips so you can access the beauty of the world around us with relative peace of mind

Voice of Rabbis If you're Jewish or non-Jewish, please, let the world know: Video from packed stadium at barclays center, The message was unmistakable: “We oppose and have no part in Zionism and State of israel” Not fringe. Not small.

Hubris and incompetence trump corruption. This is how empires crumble. Belgium played them across the board, but that own goal was poetic justice. And lukalu’s was just a pleasure to watch #ETTD

Doing acute family care for multiple people at the moment means finding and cherishing stolen, such as this one, when after several days, I got an hour to myself and witnessed this. Coincidentally, the alt #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Moments, a capture you consider to be an interesting moment.

in the midst of navigating health crises with ageing parents in the system that is desperately being undermine to try to pave the way for private healthcare, I can’t begin to fathom what healthcare in the US must be like

Miranda Yaver@mirandayaver.bsky.social

As my book Coverage Denied shows, battling health insurers is a truly American experience and sadly, most people lack the administrative capital to navigate this red tape. That’s why I call insurance denials health care “rationing by inconvenience.” We can do better. www.amazon.com/Coverage-Den...

As I, like so many Gen Xers, navigate our parents aging, I keep adding new movements to the soundtrack of my life. The latest is the hold music from the diagnostic imaging clinic I’m calling repeatedly. Itis eerily similar to what Buffy listens to in the kitchen S5E9 "Listening to Fear"

This juvenile startling is scratching their head wondering how they can disrupt the colonial project. Today's #BirdOfTheDay Theme is #Preeners&Scratchers, birds preening plumage or scratching, the Al Theme is #Black&White, birds with Black & White in their plumage #birds

#BirdOfTheDay alt #FemaleBeauty. Though, tbf, these birds could be queer. They definitely seem to be pair bonding Here’s two androgynous (presumably-not to be cis-heterosexist about it) female beauty. #Birds #NaturePhotography #BlueskyArtShow #EastCoastKin

(Common) Grackles in the city for both #BirdOfTheDay themes: #EFGH, birds who have any of these letters at the beginning of any part of their name, and the alt, #UrbanLegends, birds captured in urban environments. 🪶 #EastCoastKin because grackles are works of art

The lighting wasn’t great and it was at a distance, but this was after a bunch of us rescued some chicks who were unable to get down the wall to their very distraught mama. Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Parenthood any capture of parents and young.

i’ve been so grateful for Birdsong during this really tricky week #BirdOfTheDay #TheSongFactor, birds with their empty beaks open, The Alt Theme is #Ardeidae, any bird of this Species. 🪶 #EastCoastKin

The early bird gets the worm (I’m going back to bed) Sorry I didn’t get this in focus but wow, was that American Robin working hard. So was the worm. #BirdOfTheDay #ComeEatWithMe, birds with food in their beaks, like this robin Alt Theme is #Turdidae, like this robin #birds #nature

Another #BirdOfTheDay #LongNecks theme… though they’re hiding their attributes at the moment. It would’ve worked for the #BirdButts of earlier this week, too

Hope this matches today's #BirdOfTheDay theme (and doesn’t bother anyone) even if it’s in profile. #BirdButt I was waiting for 20 minutes for it to fly and when it started to shift its weight, I was sure if she was going to take flight. Oh well, close, right? 🪶 #EastCoastKin

OK, Bluesky, this is my second week of being laid off and I’m feeling that very dangerous dip in motivation, which is often low in my AuDHD brain anyway, especially post menopause. I’m gonna set some challenges for me in the coming weeks. And I mate somewhat boringly post them on here.

I’m waiting for my first EI payment to pick up Prescott-Weinstein’s book! But this looks like an excellent list for spring. What a good time to be laid off.

This post is unavailable.

Last spring, maybe the first time I laid out on a warbler, which is still find frustratingly difficult to see, but hey, that means it’s fulfilling both #BirdOfTheDay themes #Warblers and #RareEncounters . Merlin thinks Wilson’s warbler.
