Mythaxis Magazine

True to our word, Issue 47 is out now! mythaxis.co.uk/issue-47.html It's been a good year here: our editor winning one award, plus "Best" nominations for a top story from last year and for Mythaxis as a whole at tonight's BFS awards. But the biggest pleasure is still a new launch! ToC follows...

Issue 46 of Mythaxis Magazine is (finally) out! mythaxis.co.uk/issue-46/ All new stories and review articles await you at the link, many thanks to cover artist Frank Forrestall, audio producer Micah Hyatt, techguru Marty Steer, and of course our latest contributors – table of contents to follow…

Mythaxis Magazine is forever ad free... ...but, if you find yourself yearning for more Emma Burnett in one go than you can find in our back issues, the solution is nigh: EX PARTUM is a dystopian novella examining expectations of motherhood, out now! @slashnburnett.bsky.social emmaburnett.carrd.co

Is it any surprise that I'm completely taken-aback, made-up, bowled-over, and even things that AREN'T needlessly-hyphenated phrasal verbs about making this shortlist? Thanks to our contributors for making Mythaxis what it is ❤️ Obviously... I want it 😂 but also, best of luck to all the candidates!

Amazing – to be on the Best Magazine/Periodical shortlist for the 2026 BFS Awards – to be considered alongside these titles ❤️ All the shortlists are at the link: britishfantasysociety.org/the-british-...

Nice news for Mythaxis editor @noumenon.bsky.social! Congrats to all Foof recipients, polite applause to the nominees as well 👏👏👏

Perhaps a case of "too little too late", but Mythaxis (and many of our 2025 stories, in both text and audio formats) are eligible as candidates for the British Fantasy Awards – with voting open until... er, well, tomorrow! britishfantasysociety.org/voting-opens...

Issue 45 of the new-look Mythaxis Magazine is out now! mythaxis.co.uk/issue-45/ Here you’ll find 6 new stories and 2 review articles, plus a background overhaul that adds an app-like mobile reading experience and a bunch of little bells and whistles! Many thanks to our latest contributors!

Editors off the leash...

Well said, Emma @slashnburnett.bsky.social (we're no less proud to have been involved). Nevertheless, congrats to everyone who took home a gong from EasterCon this year! 🙂

I'm excited to share that I'll have another story coming out in @mythaxis.bsky.social. It's about the more extreme ways people may cope with climate change.

Supernova returns with a review of last year's Mythaxis #43 @mythaxis.bsky.social

Window closed! Thanks to all who shared! 222 pieces in, so that's... 219 different generous writers, of whom 217 got as far through the guidelines as the "no multiple subs" bit 😂😭😂😉 Maybe it's time for a tl;dr section at the top... Anyway, on with the slush reading!

Six days of our subs window gone, just over 24 hours remaining! One acceptance so far, several contenders forming a longlist... There's still time to join them! mythaxis.co.uk/submissions....

Day 24! I read Body Parts by Anna Koltes published by @mythaxis.bsky.social. Read my review here: mickstaniforth.wordpress.com/2026/01/24/s... And here is the catch up review for yesterday's story: mickstaniforth.wordpress.com/2026/01/24/s...

Oh my... additional delight incoming, as Cheryl S. Ntumy's "Listen, Don't Touch" is ALSO on the BSFA's short fiction longlist! Votable at this link: bsfa.co.uk/bsfa-awards-... Readable at this one: mythaxis.co.uk/issue-42/lis...

Mythaxis Magazine is open to submissions again until Jan30! mythaxis.co.uk/submissions.... This is our first subs window in more than half a year! We're looking for all forms of speculative fiction (plus pieces for our next end-of-year crime issue) to appear in 2026 and 2027. Info at the link!

We agree! (Happy New Year, all!)

Mythaxis editor Andrew Leon Hudson @noumenon.bsky.social will be making his debut on Canadian soil for TriCon and is very much looking forward to it 😍 (imagine those eyes are little Maple leaves and you'll get the idea)
