Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts. Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

Only in America could a Ketamine-infused South African oligarch call a navy captain, astronaut and sitting US senator "a traitor" for supporting our allies and standing up to Russia...

This is like being outside watching a blind bull on meth run rampant through the family china shop.

Gutting the CDC right as we’re on the cusp of major outbreaks of transmissible diseases is a very bad idea.

Want to hire someone to build a highway? Feed a military base? Conduct cancer research? Develop a new fighter jet? Forget about it! Why would they trust you to pay up if a president can just cancel your contract or refuse to pay up at any time for no other reason than they just don't like it? 🧵

I'm a little surprised by the extreme emphasis placed by the Trump administration on DEI. I knew that they didn't like it, but it's a centerpiece of their purges. It's the motivating factor behind the funding freeze, for example. 1/

After his salute Musk said “It is thanks to you that the future of civilisation is assured”. I can’t be the only one who hears at least an obvious dog whistle to the white supremacist/neonazi “14 words” slogan “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children”.

A documented antisemite who openly supports a NeoNazi party and gave a platform to espouse their beliefs back re to white supremacists says he used a well executed Nazi salute to mean“my heart goes out to you”, a gesture never before used for that meaning. Riiiiiggghht.

That Jim Cramer's job outlived the 2008 crisis is one of the many ways we got to this place.

JIM CRAMER: Should working people buy more stock? TRUMP: Well, I don't want to get into a situation where they do and we have a dip or something, because that can always happen

Spot on.

Many annoying things about this post from @mattyglesias.bsky.social, but to confine myself to one: "climate change will not wipe out humanity" is not a sufficient take on climate damages. Nothing of particular substance follows from that. It doesn't settle any argument.

I see a lot of this: “Trump doesn’t care that his cabinet and administration picks are all incompetent criminals.” “Trump thinks it’s funny to troll the left with his horrendous cabinet picks.” I think that gets it completely wrong.

I think Trump cares a lot. He’s deadly serious about it. He knows exactly what he’s doing. Skeletons in the closet are leverage. The threat of revelation ensures loyalty. Knowing that The Boss has that dirt on you ensures obedience. Trump is making them an offer they can’t refuse.

You are up to date.
