Michigan State hockey has committed Diego Johnson to replace Nikita Klepov this season. Johnson has over 250 games of junior hockey experience and has scored 20+ goals each of the last two seasons, most recently with Penticton in the WHL. Solid addition for the Spartans.

Cayden Lindstrom (No. 4, 2024) Ryker Lee (No. 26, 2025) Mason West (No. 29, 2025) Joshua Ravensbergen (No. 30, 2025) Cullen Potter (No. 32, 2025) Chase Reid (No. 7), Nikita Klepov (No. 15), Ethan Belchetz (No, 17), and Jack Hextall (No. 30) tonight.

So, in total, MSU has four incoming freshman along with Tommy Bleyl, a commit for the 2027-2028 season, drafted in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft. Another commit, Brooks Rogowski, won’t wait long to hear his name called tomorrow. Nine first rounders on roster this year.

Despite the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks acquiring the playing rights for Mason West today, West is still coming to play for Michigan State in the fall, I’m told. West is a first round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2025 NHL Draft.

Michigan State hockey has landed a commitment from Ethan Belchetz. Belchetz, a 6-5 power forward, had 34 goals and 25 assists in 57 games for the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL last season. Belchetz is a projected top-15 pick in the upcoming NHL Draft.
