Speaking of Goo Goo Dolls, I remember who introduced me: stereotypical early-'90s alt dude (as we all were) w/the Lands End field jacket, Doc Martens, pirate turbin-style bandana, hoop earrings, etc. Borrowed me the third record (on CD natch) but it didn't take. Despite his efforts I just couldn't

He wouldn't shut up about Goo Goo Dolls (this is pre-huge MTV band era) but I was like, nah. Had I heard the first two records I probably would have aligned. Those are actually very good IMO, on the Mpls Replacements/Hüsker Dü/Soul Asylum (punk days) tip. They were probably Buffalo's Replacements

I had an itch on my calf and when I raised my leg to scratch it my hip cramped up on me lol. A small moment of panic, otherwise I locked in for the duration. Presently at home icing with the Tennis Channel on

Many years ago for a brief period of time my friends and I had "serious listening" hangs where we'd gather at someone's pad and listen to vinyl. Everyone would bring one or two records and we'd just sit around listening and talking. I do miss that.

Tennis scene report: Sub instructor had us running around an like elementary gym class. Despite suffering a cold and thrown back I did fine. During introductions we had to say our favorite tennis player. One guy said Björn Borg, confirming my suspicion that I'm not the oldest, a rarity these days

And if you thought that I'm not doing all of the Anacondas and Lake Placid films in chronological order (including the crossover and post-crossover) then like Halford says, you got another thing comin'

Why, yes, I am wearing the same shirt to the all-staff on-site meeting this morning that I wore to the show last night and slept in, thanks for asking. It's a power move; let them know I only work to live, I don't live to work

One of my coworkers wore a jacket with a screenprinted logo of a very prominent Big Four thrash metal band on the back. Another wore an animal print skirt and a denim jacket decorated with an abundance of rhinestones It might interest you to know that two mentioned above are a couple

Tennis lessons scene report: Worked on a passing shots and Killshots, latter of which made me think of Chikara Pro. Played a game that was inexplicably called "Triples", which made me audibly go, "TRIPLE SIX MAFIA" in DJ Paul voice every time we scored 🎾🤙🏼

When the score was 9-11 I go, "never forget" and everyone laughed. Then someone said, "we were all thinking it but you had to *actually* say it." I pointed out that thoughts don't get the laughs. Also, in error I called a person named Shannon by the name Janet, which earned me the opposite of laughs

Guess who signed up for more tennis lessons. If you guessed it was the person that hasn't mentioned until now that they broke (or badly jammed) their big toe at the free jazz show last week then you are correct

Lol Instagram... I've reported several nazis and it's always "doesn't go against our code of conduct" or whatever, and now they just feed me tons of swastikas and sieg heiling bullshit all the time

I reported a MAGA guy for harassing me on IG, and they said the same thing, "found no evidence of harassment", etc. Dude has literally called me a f*ggot, other slurs, and talked about butt f*cking my mom on several of my posts. Come on! It's time to cut ourselves off from Meta. Like all the way off

Wowza, Yuka Honda & Nels Cline (and friends) was wild. Both a Minutemen song AND a Coltrane song! The subdued guitar wankery was not for me, but the shit-your-pants burnt-by-the-sun noise-not-music freakout jazz most certainly was. Holy cow! Total palate cleanser. May never listen to music again

Yuka did an iPad techno song (Ableton probably) that built on a bunch of bleeps and bloops and other semi-annoying noises that sounded like a million cell phones going off crescendoing (not sure that's the right term) into a solid house beat. Like a field recording from the ICU with a click track

Also, Alex Cline and Glenn Kotche did a semi-pretentious chef's kiss noisy drummer duet that sounded like someone biting down on a fork while walking through a beaded doorway at an Alice Coltrane meditation retreat. Maybe my favorite part of the show. Recommended

Tennis lessons scene report: Played a doubles vs singles game called 21. When I was on doubles we lost but when I was a single I won. Then played 1v1 against a guy who asked to call game at 18 all (because he knew I was going to win). Stepped in dogshit retrieving a ball that went over the fence 🎾🐕💩

Forgot to mention, was also very distracted by several bird calls. Definitely a few hawks and blue jays but also a pileated woodpecker, which, hey, that's pretty cool, we don't often see them in the city, but an unfortunate expense coming up for whoever's yard that tree is in
