Folks, our rubbish government have signed a £330 million government contract to sell our most sensitive healthcare data to Palantir, a company who have been exploiting vulnerable communities internationally - most recently working with ICE in the US. Take action! Write to your MP: tr.ee/4d82gg0BIN
It’s not great news for us, tell your MP why we don’t want our healthcare data given over too. www.axios.com/local/denver...
In positive news, colleagues at @mctd.bsky.social with @bda.org.uk have published this excellent set of recommendations to warn against the unrelenting tide of AI services that don’t account for BSL’s rich culture and diversity, and the risk it has in initiatives not being Deaf-led.
NEW REPORT 🚨 BSL is Not for Sale Sign Language AI systems are being rolled out across the UK's public services without proper consultation with Deaf communities❗ ➡️ www.mctd.ac.uk/bsl-not-for-...

I also contributed to the exhibition book, writing an entire chapter on the disabled experience in gaming.

I’m profoundly sad to say that as of today, I’ll no longer be able to do my job as co-artistic director of #Touretteshero because of a recent decision by #AccessToWork to cut my support by 61%. Read & share this post, the hardest I've had to write: www.touretteshero.com/2025/05/23/a... 1/4
Really nice to speak to Debika Ray for this piece on access and architecture, and about our upcoming show. Also features some amazing folks such as the Poppy Levison, Amanprit Arnold from Deaf City Hub, Chris Laing from Deaf Architecture Front and DisOrdinary Architecture.

I am so bad at social media these days unless it’s being extremely mad at our government on a certain image based platform, but for some reason I’ve had loads of new followers here. I’ve been really occupied working towards our show, Design and Disability, tickets were released earlier this month.
It’s also Neurodiversity Celebration Week. If you really want to celebrate us, go and join action that tries to fight the miserable, life changing cuts that this government are planning on welfare. DPAC are making plans , there’s a day of action on the 26th dpac.uk.net/2025/03/hand...

Disabled people’s organisations have made a plea to the government to listen to their “authentic” voices rather than disability charities that are not led by disabled people, which they say are “actively harmful” to their movement.
Frances Ryan once again has to do the heavy lifting on another journalist’s sensationalism around disabled people - I watched the Dispatches documentary yesterday and it was so stressful to see his shock at people asking each other for help when it’s a matter of life or death at a DWP appointment.
Meet the “sickfluencers”: disabled people turn to TikTok for help accessing disability benefits - and the media says they’re scroungers gaming the system. My col. on Fraser Nelson’s stitch up job, and the paranoia those with the least might get an advantage. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
