We will always fight for every Albertan!

Naheed Nenshi@naheednenshi.bsky.social

One year ago today, Danielle Smith and the UCP stripped 51,000 teachers of their fundamental human rights. We’ve heard that the problems they were fighting to fix — underfunding, overcrowding and a lack of support for complexity — have not improved.

In 1976, Alberta set aside $1.5 billion to start the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund, a savings account for our province’s future. Every year, Albertans get a chance to ask questions about how that money is saved and invested. This year’s public meeting is Monday, October 26 at 6 PM.

Incredibly sad news coming out of CFB Wainwright. I am thinking about the people affected and the entire Canadian Military family. Thank you to everyone that is helping. Hug your loved ones. And thank the ones who serve.

globalnews.ca7 dead, dozens injured in explosion and fire at CFB Wainwright | Globalnews.caAt least seven people are dead and dozens more left injured from an explosion and fire at the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, according to multiple military sources.

A big thank you to everyone out knocking doors with me, and to @heathermcpherson.bsky.social for keeping our team fuelled with Canada cookies! 🍁🍪 This morning we’re in Broadmoor Estates today talking to neighbours. Advance polls are open today until 8 PM and Monday is your last chance! 🇨🇦

We've been out for Canada since day one, from spring to summer and into the fall. Thank you to every volunteer who knocked a door with us. Now let's finish it. Vote in advance until Saturday, or on Monday, October 19. 🇨🇦 Vote.AlbertaNDP.ca

Joined the Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) rally in Sherwood Park yesterday. Albertans with disabilities make important contributions to our workplaces and communities. We need to keep breaking down barriers and creating more inclusive employment opportunities for everyone.

Danielle Smith is a weak leader for the province and within her own separatist party. A proud Canadian would never allow a separatist to remain in their party.

Have you received Danielle Smith and the UCP’s $4 million propaganda brochure? It’s full of lies, and taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for it, never mind the $200 million referendum.

Albertans shouldn’t be paying up to $460 more a year on their electricity bills to accommodate foreign, billionaire-owned AI data centres coming onto our grid. Albertans deserve a govt that puts them first, is upfront about what’s coming, and works to keep costs down. www.albertandp.ca/savemoney

It was an honour to attend the annual Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day Ceremony yesterday at the Alberta Legislature. We remember the police and peace officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty in Alberta, and honour the courage and sacrifice they made in service to others.

Heather has been an incredible leader in the Alberta NDP and a the role model for selfless public service! Thank you for everything you do and have done for the future of Alberta!

After 12 years of service to the people of Edmonton-Manning, I have decided to not seek re-election and pass on leadership to the next generation. While I will no longer be seeking elected office, my commitment to our community will not end. #ableg #abag

Thank you to @nagwanyyc.bsky.social and @sweetmla.bsky.social , who have both announced that they will not be seeking re-election at the end of their current terms. Their dedication to public service is making a lasting difference in the lives of Albertans, and we are deeply grateful for their work.

New UCP Tax!

Naheed Nenshi@naheednenshi.bsky.social

Danielle Smith wants to impose a $1,900 health care tax on small businesses for every temporary worker. It's an out of touch policy amid an affordability crisis and a trade war, plus employees and businesses already pay taxes. Albertans can’t afford Danielle Smith and the UCP.

Gas is over $1.80/L. Diesel is over $2.30/L in some communities. Albertans are paying the price. We can’t just stop driving. The UCP could suspend the gas tax and provide immediate relief, but they’re choosing not to. Alberta’s NDP will put more money back in your pocket. albertandp.ca/savemoney

Tonight shows that Alberta's NDP is building huge momentum here in Calgary, and across the province. We know better is possible. The historic result in Calgary-Shaw proves it. Thank you to Kyle and to every single person who put in the work to get us here. /1

On September 14th send a message to Smith. Say NO to the UCP, separatism or becoming the 51st state. Say YES to Kyle Campbell and the Alberta NDP!

Welcome back to school! Wishing all the teachers, school staff, students, and parents across Sherwood Park a great 2026–27 school year. I hope it’s filled with good learning, new adventures, and lots of great memories. Have a great year!

The UCP’s strategy is a gift to Trump. It's time for the Premier & their staff to get on team #Canada. History will show that this referendum was bad for Albertans & our Alberta #economy. Premier, cancel the referendum. #ableg #abpoli #cdnpoli

Tariffs are putting Alberta jobs, families, and businesses at risk. At a time like this, Canada needs leaders who will stand united, protect workers, and put our shared interests first. Division only weakens our position. Alberta is stronger when Canada is strong. Now is the time to stand together.

Canada is only as strong as our weakest link. We need to stand shoulder to shoulder with all our fellow Canadians, to protect Canadian families, to protect Canadian jobs, and, most important, to protect Canadian sovereignty and to protect Canada.

Spent a beautiful Saturday for the South Cooking Lake Trail Days with the Strathcona-Sherwood Park NDP team! It was great to see so many families out enjoying the parade, car show, market, games and much more. Thanks to everyone who came out and made it such a fun community celebration.

Transmission fees do not pay for roads, hospitals, universities, and police, Mrs. Smith. $200m is transmission fees, $40m is property taxes. $10m in annual royalties and levies is all the Province of Alberta will net from the Meta data centre.

Our office has been getting a lot of emails and calls about the referendum, and there’s some bad information going around. So here are the facts. A Special Ballot is real, official, and counted like any other vote. Applications are open now. Swipe for the deadlines. For more info: elections.ab.ca

Heading into the August long weekend shouldn't mean stressing about the cost of filling your gas tank. A year ago, filling up a family vehicle might have cost around $90. Today, it's well over $130. Albertans deserve real relief.

That's why we're once again calling on Danielle Smith to suspend the 13¢/L provincial fuel tax while gas prices remain high. It's a practical step that would help families keep more of their hard earned money. Learn more at www.albertandp.ca/savemoney

Danielle Smith and the UCP are making this long weekend the most expensive long weekend ever! Putting gas in the tank and food in the cooler has become much more expensive over the last few years. Albertans deserve a government focused on lowering costs and making life more affordable.

People won't be able to pay their rent, buy groceries, or pick up prescriptions because of the ineptness of this government. The AISH to ADAP transition is cruel, and this is just another example of this government's ineptness and incompetence.
