🌍Nigeria is a leading example of local currency guarantee markets, built through regulatory reform. Naira guarantee volumes are growing steadily, while international guarantees stay volatile, now helping local companies scale and deepening Nigerian capital markets. Read here 👉 bit.ly/4z4oBIc

⚡Despite growing commitments, some of the world’s largest coal users aren’t members of the alliance created to phase out coal power. This week’s #factsheetFridays: the Powering Past Coal Alliance (PPCA). Members commit to phasing out unabated coal power by 2030 in the OECD, and by 2040 globally.

☁ Methane emissions have risen since 2020, despite a pledge to cut them by at least 30% by 2030. This week’s #factsheetFridays: the Global Methane Pledge (#GMP). 159 governments and the European Commission have signed, covering over 60% of global methane emissions.

Methane emissions are rising in most signatory and non-signatory countries alike, with no evidence signatories are doing any better. Just 13% of global methane emissions are covered by mitigation policies. Read the full fact sheet 👉 bit.ly/4yvtpFK

Thailand’s gas sector is at a turning point. In our new report, we examine how a transition away from gas could impact employment in the power sector and livelihoods across the gas value chain. 🔗 Read the full analysis: bit.ly/4jgwsxt #CASEforSEA #GasTransition #JustTransition #Workforce

🔌AI is booming, but tech companies’ climate strategies aren’t keeping up. Our new report finds their supply chain emissions strategies fall short, as chip emissions outpace renewable electricity. Apple is the only one with a formal target for its chip supply chain. Read here👉 bit.ly/4hMVWQs

🌍Every COP brings a wave of new pledges, alliances and coalitions. But how much progress are they actually making? That's the question behind #factsheetFridays, our series in the lead up to #COP31. Each week, we look at one international climate initiative's ambition, robustness and progress.

2️⃣ Next up: the Glasgow Declaration on Forests and Land Use, coordinated by the FCLP. 140+ signatories cover ~90% of the world's forests. However, deforestation has stayed flat for 8 years, off track for zero deforestation by 2030. Check out the fact sheet 👉 bit.ly/4hLOKEt

1️⃣ First up: the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC). It has 74 government signatories, covering just ~33% of the world's population. Building emissions have stayed flat for a decade, off track to halve by 2030. Check out the fact sheet 👉 bit.ly/3W08vAI
