Apertus isn't just an LLM. it's the Swiss AI Initiative: @epfl-ai-center.bsky.social , @ethz.ch and @cscsch.bsky.social building open weights, open data, open science. And truly open should run anywhere. Including on your device. So as a Swiss dev, I had to bring it to the browser.
Huge thanks to Imanol Schlag, Oleg, @mjaggi.bsky.social, Andrei and the whole Apertus team ๐. I'm excited to be part of bringing it to the web ๐ค
@tomayac.com colaborated with us on implementing the Cross-Origin Storage API in Transformers.js. Read his blogpost to learn how to try out the API right now๐ค
Very excited to share a guest post I wrote for the Hugging Face ๐ค blog! Experimenting with the proposed Cross-Origin Storage API in Transformers.js! ๐ huggingface.co/blog/cross-o... This proposed API has the potential of revolutionizing the Webโa little bit. Learn more: github.com/WICG/cross-o...!
Everything you always wanted to know about Transformers.js, in one video. I made a deep dive into how AI models run from JavaScript: tensors, ONNX, quantization, `pipeline()`, WebGPU/WASM, preprocessing, postprocessing, and what happens under the hood. Watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_6U...
While @xenova.bsky.social and I were distracted by Google I/O, ๐ค Transformers.js quietly crossed 1'000'000 weekly downloads ๐คฏ.
And my on-stage-contribution this year? I got to moderate the open source panel with @benburtenshaw.bsky.social, @jonny.io, Panos Vagenas and @rjourdan.com.
Thanks to everyone who joined us on the Gurten. see you next year ๐๏ธ And a huge thanks to Matthias, Christian, @johanngyger.com, Roland, Christof, Marco and Tobias for organizing this with me!
@osanseviero.bsky.social walked through what Gemma4 means for on-device AI. New benchmarks, solid technical depth.
@devdevcharlie.com closed the day with creative and experimental AI interfaces, demoed live on stage. perfect way to end a conference.
I really enjoyed this conversation with the @neciudan.dev! We covered a lot.. how I went from Ski instructor to ML engineer and how Transformers.js lets you run ML models directly in the browser to WebGPU, quantization, agents, and what frontend devs should actually focus on๐ค
Really cool episode! Thank you @nico.dev !!! ๐๐๐ AI at Scale with Nico Martin from Hugging Face | Transformers.js, Tokenizers, On-Device Inference youtu.be/SilGBAV4Lbw
Install it with one command: npx skills add github.com/huggingface/... --skill transformers-js github.com/huggingface/skills
The lineup is going to be fantastic, and almost all of the speakers have been announced (but not all of them yet ๐). Get your tickets now! uphillconf.com/tickets/
Read everything about the release in our blogpost. huggingface.co/blog/transfo... And please try it out, we'd love to hear your thoughts!
I fully agree with DHH on this: "pure vibe coding remains an aspirational dream for professional work for me, for now. Supervised collaboration, though, is here today." world.hey.com/dhh/promotin...
๐ Transformers.js v4 update: We've migrated from webpack to esbuild. Results: - Build time: 2s โ <200ms (10x faster) - Bundle size: 10-50% smaller Sometimes it's not about new features. It's about building a more robust architecture that makes everything else possible๐ฅ. github.com/huggingface/...
I made myself a little Christmas present: a workout tracker that runs 100% offline in your browser. I's built entirely with Claude Code, zero manual coding, just conversations. Every component, every database query, even the deployment config. pumpel.nico.dev
Oh, and the best part? Built the entire thing in one train ride to the mountains and back. That's maybe 2-3 hours total. Claude Code handled everything while I just described what I wanted. We're living in a different era of building. github.com/nico-martin/...
