My first sighting of noctilucent clouds from #Potsdam this year. Noctilucent clouds form at altitudes of about 80 km and consist of ice crystals. During the weeks around the summer solstice, they can be spotted from locations north of about 48 degrees latitude.

17th June: The 11% lit crescent #Moon is very close to bright planet #Venus this evening. Look to the west-northwest around 23:00 BST (22:00 UT). The pair will be a stunning sight in binoculars or in a wide-angle telescope view. Jupiter and Mercury are also nearby. #Astronomy
